Biography

Harbinger

They/She | Loner
Description
Bloodstone
Contaminated Featherback Pelt
Eye Agate
Singed Webbing

To say odd would not be in err. Even by fae standards, Harbinger sits on the small side, although she seems even smaller due to constantly being hunched over, typicallying over their arrows or a small campfire. She's never seen with others.

Harbinger seems right at home, in the wastelands, but strangely enough, the Scarred Wastelands is where they spend the least amount of their time. From trekking the desert lands of the Shifting Expanses to hiding on the grounds of the Viridian Labyrinth, this fae is always wandering.

Whether by choice or else, the small fae is a mute. What voice is actually theirs, no one knows. Despite not speaking words, Harbinger is known for being very expressive. They are always motioning, signing, or pointing, communicating to dragons through any nonverbal means, even if the other dragons do not understand her.

Early Life
Harbinger's egg was among a few others in the clutch, to a family of faes grown resistant to the wasteland's plethora of disease and sickness. Harbinger was supposed to travel among them, learning to grow and survive in an unforgiving landscape. However, only a few days old, the young dragon contracted an infection in their throat, an itchy, scraping infection, one that left pustules, filled with pus and burst at the slightest touch. Swallowing even the tiniest morsel was an impossibility without violent coughing fits leaving puddles of yellow ooze afterwards. The dragonet grew thin, barely able to stay awake during the long voyages through the wastelands. Not that there was much that Harbinger could see. For that same disease that had struck her throat had gone for her eyes, twisting scales raw and maiming the structures that were her eyes, and left a kaleidoscopic, twisted remain embedded in her face.

Harbinger was left to die, cursed as a bad omen for the other faes. Where they should have wasted away in the unforgiving lands of the Plauge Domain, they survived. Taken home by a resident of Lightbringer town, they were cared for, and struggled through their infection.

The caretaker, being an old guard of Lightbringer town, taught Harbinger everything they knew. The old caretaker was an archer, thus, Harbinger learned archery. Harbinger wasn't the most skilled at it, and spent more of their time crafting arrows and bows instead of shooting them.

On their own
After the caretaker had passed, a new dragon took over the position of guard. The new dragon, who was not originally from plague, had a strong dislike of Harbinger for their muteness and their infection, which by this point, had left the multiple clusters of unusually green eyes, which is very unusual for the crimson of plague. In general, most dragons of the town didn't like Harbinger, believing her to be "diseased."

So they left. Why bother with dragons that didn't like her? Harbinger's first location was to the heart of the Scarred Wastelands, but fell short into the Rotrock Rim. However, through experimentation, Harbinger learned that if one wiped their arrow tips on the rotting remains of deceased dragons, one who had perished of disease, getting a perfect shot didn't matter.

Turning to the rest of Sornith, the dragon didn't like company. They kept to themselves, and started exploring. They forged north, and to the wasteland's immediate neighbor, Dragonhome.
