Biography

NAIN

The room is dark, lit only by a few, dim candles, glowing a strange-yet comforting purple. It's almost impossible to see the bloody tags on anything here. Not that it's really anything that good. Just a couple of homebrew things, what you'd really expect to find in shops in these run-down towns. Even still, some of it does strike you as being just a little odd. Eyes in a jar that smell a little strange for a very lilac-smelling shop, a dragon's skull that looks a little too real for you, and these other, little things that make you wonder if you've stepped into a charms and prepared spells shop or a butchery.

You pick up the skull. It's heavy, heavier than you'd expect a fake copy to be. You're not sure what dragon it used to be, but it's a larger dragon. It's horns have been shaved down to the base, the back opened up to comfortably fit a dragon's head, no lower jaw, and runes have been carved in the skull, all across the forehead and cheeks. You read the tag, written in a fine calligraphy; Disguise. Weird. Out of sheer curiosity, you slowly pull the skull up to your face and put it on. It's not nearly as disgusting as you think it is. The inside smells like lavender and clean velvet, and it feels lighter now that it's on your head. You turn, until you're face to face with the mirror on the far wall, just behind a lily with smoke flowing from it's petals.

At least, you think it's a mirror. The dragon in it is far from you, however. It's a skydancer, tall, and lean, with deep blue feathers and a gold crack snaking across his snout. He's wearing the same things you were wearing, and his movements mirror yours. You look down at your talons. This spell is good. Your talons match this dragon's, the deep blue feathers, barely visible in this deep light. The only thing that hasn't changed is your eyes, the almost grey, earthy tones staring back at you.

"Ah, Lianu. He was my favorite." You turn towards the voice. Lounging over the counter is a spiral. He twirls a candle between his pink, glittering talons. His face is hidden under a mop of a black mane, one that ripples and glitters like river water, but you can just spot the glow of light underneath it. Light element?

"Lianu?" You echo, curious for an explanation.

"Yes, Lianu. A curious detective of a dragon. Always poking his snout where it didn't belong. He always seemed to think there was something nefarious with my little shop, something simply... awful with it. Well, he certainly discovered why."

Instinctively, you turn back towards the shop's entrance, fearful that something had happened. Nothing. Through hanging flower baskets, the wilting plants hanging down, you can spot the entrance door, the harsh, pale browns of the outside just barely visible. You turn back to the shopkeeper. He's tracing a wood grain in his counter. You've noticed that very little of his shop is wood, only kept to the inside, away from the outside, the rest being stone. Cold, uncaring stone.

Your inquisitiveness gets the better of you. "What did he... discover?"

The spiral sighs, gently lifting a purple candle from his countertop, and carrying it over to the back. He crouches over, and you slowly approach, trying to get a good look at what he's doing. Before you can really get a good look, he lifts back up, looking at you with his glowing eyes.

"Some dragon here are rather... unforgiving." He softly whispers, staring deep into your face. You whip around to the entrance again, your anxiety rising. The entrance is still wide open, the outside nearly white from how far you are. You could still easily shove over his ornate tables and hanging pots if you needed to bolt.
