Biography
Don’t get him wrong, Aldrich likes his lessons! Teacher Galadriel tells the most interesting stories, and her lessons are always easy to follow. Whenever he asks, Teacher explains the things that he doesn’t know about without insulting him, unlike some of his old tutors, and sometimes, she even gives him treats if he does really great on his tests! Really, he likes his lessons! He’s just tuning her out right now because… well, he’s very smart already! Everyone always tells him that, even Teacher herself! As Teacher Galadriel turns her back, Aldrich quickly goes back to reading “Skadiva and the Crystal Moon,” his newest storybook. It’s the last book from the Crystalcourt series, and his parents even managed to get it autographed for him! He’s heard from his friends that it’s amazing, and a quarter way through the book, he’s already bouncing in his seat as he reads about Skadiva and her friends battling through the ruined lands. In fact, he thinks his favorite scene of all time will be the one he’s reading now! Skadiva is sparring with this stupid knight that's supposedly the kingdom’s best, and as she’s winning, every other dragon is reacting to her inevitable win. Aldrich loves reading about the characters acknowledging how cool Skadiva is, because it just feels so great to see her getting respected like she should be- “Aldrich!” Aldrich yelps, jerking up only to shrink back down in his seat as he meets Teacher Galadriel’s disappointed eyes. “Sorry,” he mutters, reluctantly putting the book away. “But I already know this lesson.” “We’ve gone through this before, your little highness,” Teacher Galadriel sighs. Aldrich flushes at the nickname — it’s so embarrassing, but it’s the nickname his parents gave him. “But…” he pouts. “There’s only an hour left,” Teacher Galadriel says gently, tapping the board. “I’m sure you can wait a while longer to read your book, hm?” An hour? That’s so long. Still, Aldrich doesn’t want to disappoint Teacher any further. “Then…” he looks up with pleading eyes, the ones that always make the chefs soft and give him more desserts whenever he goes to the kitchen. “Can you do this quickly?” Teacher Galadriel snorts inelegantly. “We have an hour left, and I intend to spend all of that time preparing you for your test next week.” Aldrich goes harder on the pleading eyes. “Don’t look at me like that, you rascal,” Teacher Galadriel teases, and Aldrich ducks his head, smiling mischievously despite himself. “Alright, I’ll let you leave early. But only this once, okay?” “Yeah!” With his request being accepted, he nods and pays attention to the lesson properly. …well, and starts to thinks about how the characters might react when Skadiva puts that knight in his stupid place; it’s such a good scene, and he really really wants to know what’s going to happen next… “Aldrich…” “Sorry!” _________________________________________________________ |
