Kaeya

First things first! He actually hatched as a Coatl which... Considering his parents had a 3% chance of producing one that's pretty lucky! Especially because one of his original scrys was a male Coatl.

I originally wanted him to have white underbelly but as I think about it now, Ice probably works better given his vision (as if getting the matching ice eyes wasn't enough).

Now then onto some background! The idea to plan a Kaeya fandragon came to me on November 4th, 2021. I was egged on by my friend here on Flight Rising, Sadistic. The pair was (probably) bought on the same day. Clearly an impulse decision that could only go well.

While planning his outfit I literally forgot what Kaeya looked like aside from the following details and nothing else:

Cape
Side ponytail
Eyepatch
Spike bracelets
Tiddy window

I clearly had my priorities in order... What's more is when I got into the dressing room I got as far as the cloudberry plumed mantle and an eyepatch before going "Wait what does he look like again?"

Task failed successfully!

When figuring out his breed to make him, it was between Coatl and Skydancer since they both invoke the feeling of "Why are you shaped like that?" which is another reason I wanted a Kaeya dragon. Sads sent me a tweet with a screenshot of Kaeya from the webtoon that was captioned "Why are u shaped like that," and it truly made me wonder... "Why IS Kaeya shaped like that?" So I settled on Skydancer because at the time I didn't expect a Coatl to hatch from that first nest (I mean seriously just look at these odds if you don't believe me!) Plus Skydancers are just so... Shape. So it just worked.

Focusing more on his actual character for a moment... Sadistic can vouch for me when I say I will dunk on him and bully him any chance I get but it's kind of like this picture. At this point I've come to the conclusion that the fictional characters I bully tend to be the ones I cherish the most lol.

Back to the dragon now. Another reason for Dragon!Kaeya was because I already had a Dragon!Diluc (in fact, Diluc was my first Genshin dragon and at the time I had never even touched the game) and who am I to separate two brothers? Also I figured it wasn't fair to have a Dragon!Venti to annoy Diluc so I might as well add a second source of annoyance just to cover some more bases. Also canon be damned, I'm gonna (maybe) write so many interactions between these two where they get along in a way that only siblings can. And by that I mean endless bullying and teasing because that's the relationship I have with my sibling!

Finally, as I waited for one of the parents to be RTB something possessed me to look at Kaeya's wiki on November 12th to see when his official birthday was and imagine my surprise when I saw it was November 30th! One of the parents wasn't ready until the 24th, but even then that still gave me enough time (in fact I had a whole day to spare) to hope for a "proper Kaeya dragon."

At some point (to be honest it was probably the same day as this whole plan came to fruition), this whole thing became known as The Bit™ between me and Sads. The biggest part of the bit was the accurate birthday hatch so the bit was achieved and now he's here! I rarely get super hyped about dragons that I hatch since I rarely take on breeding projects but when I saw this dude pop out of that egg with 2/3 of my desired colors and as a Coatl at 12:30 in the morning, I lost my mind.

If you actually read through all of this congrats! I'm sure you're wondering how I managed to remember such specific dates though? It's because I was basically giving Sads a play by play the entire time through Discord so I had something to look back through. Now to start planning my next Genshin fandragon \o/

P.S. Sads is working on a Thoma project since that's their Boy™ and that's been hell since they too are committed to the Bit™ moreso than I am since they aren't quitting until they get the right colors. Hopefully one day I can link that boy here whenever he hatches. GOOD NEWS! He's hatched!! In fact there's two of them. They've now entered the bonus round of waiting for his birthday and trying their luck again to see if he'll hatch.

P.P.S. As of right now (Nov. 30) I'm not exalting the pair that got me this boy so I don't know... If you're seeing this and want your own Kaeya dragon with these colors I'd be happy to give you one of their offspring. They'd probably end up as fodder anyways. Oops dead parents! Fatherless!!

God he is such a- Actually wait, I can't use the word here on FR because it is not family friendly but just know it's 5 letters, starts with a W ends with an E. Anyways...

I love (and by love I mean hate but also love) that even when he's in a suit he's gotta have his tiddies out. Like you cannot convince me that Kaeya isn't the type of guy to a buy a shirt that's one or two sizes too small for him just so he can have the excuse of walkin around looking like that. Also gotta ask it again... Why are u shaped like that?
