"Life's but a walking shadow..."
━━━━━━━━━━※✧※━━━━━━━━━━
"Macbeth knows all the funeral rites and incantations for each Flight and breed, and presides over the ceremonies for the deceased. He is one of the few that I allow in the archives without supervision, as he is studying as many rites and rituals as he can, in order to better honor our dead. I see him in there all the time, reading through piles of old parchment and looking for yet more information on the funeral traditions of Sornieth." "He'll sometimes accompany our Clansguard when they venture on raiding parties against the local Wintermane herd, so that he may help the spirits of their foes pass on. He's actually quite familiar with the Clansguard, as he'll be the one presiding over their burials in the event that something happens to them, but none of them are too close to him. Most of his clanmates prefer to avoid him, actually... He doesn't mean to, but he comes off as kind of spooky. I don't mind - he's a perfect patron of my library. He's also made friends with Svell and Perihelion, the two ordained Priests of the Eleven! He technically qualifies to be one as well, due to his vast store of knowledge of traditions from all Flights, but he prefers to remain simply the clan's undertaker." "He's currently working on making the deepest caverns of our mountain lair into a suitable crypt, since this seems to be our permanent home. He's slowly carving out what promises to be a grand system of catacombs, large enough to serve our clan for generations upon generations. He's showed me the vaults, all precisely carved out of the cave walls and decorated with some of the most delicate carvings I've seen. When I asked, he told me he's able to change his shape into that of a Serthis, and that the dexterity he possesses in that form allows him to create such intricate designs in the stone."

Born among the ruins of a graveyard in the Hewn City, Macbeth has always had a close relationship with the dead. His parents evidently saw nothing wrong with raising a clutch in the haunted city, and as a hatchling he played among the tombs and gravestones, exploring the dusty vaults that stretched beneath the area his family called home. He had a knack for avoiding trouble in the crypts - but one day his luck ran out, and he was lost among the catacombs under the city. He doesn't know how long he wandered the lightless, dusty halls, but he does know that eventually he stopped feeling hunger, or thirst, or the need for sleep. He started seeing shapes dart around him in the darkness, started hearing their whispers... and they led the young dragon back to the sunlit world above.
He was never the same, after that. It might be expected that he'd be afraid of the dead, of silent, tomb-filled halls, but that was not the case - he feels much closer to them now. He wasn't dead, exactly, but he wasn't alive either. He could see and hear the spirits of the departed, and communicate easily with them. He felt called to assist them, and so began to study the funeral rites and incantations of each breed, Flight, and even each Beastclan so that he could provide the rest the spirits he saw clamored for.
In his studies, he learned much that was forgotten. The spirits around him led him to volumes and scrolls of ancient magical knowledge previously lost to time, and he became well-versed in the arts of shape-changing, walking in dreams, and somewhere along the way, in the archives of an ancient, overgrown library, he figured out how to hold proper mortuary services for other imperial dragons. He feels it's his duty to provide rest to all the spirits he comes across, to finally allow them to pass peacefully through the veil and onward to ... wherever it is that spirits go. There are some things even he, despite being some type of spirit himself, doesn't know.
