takeko miyaichi.
↠ monomi, head of the shinobi-no-mono order.

The movement is lightning quick. One moment there is empty air, the next she appears as if materalised by the earth itself. Chang'e jumps in surprise, to which she chuckles without malice. "Sorry, sorry~" she laughs, "Don't worry, you'll get it with practice." With a fluid motion she pulls a kunai from her belt and throws it, nailing a target on a nearby tree despite the darkness surrounding them.

The shinobi-no-mono are an order perhaps as old as Kasaiwari itself. Independent from the Provinces and the Daimyo, they arose not long after the rule of the Tenkubashi began. They were created by those sick of the skirmishes between the provinces, first as a community but then as a military organisation. They see themselves as caretakers of the land (a title that the Tenshi also share). In modern times they are often not welcome in the provinces as they seen as untrustworthy spies. In addition to this, they are known to be friendly to yokai, taking in runaways, including the half yokai hanyo, training those who have become fuin by being possessed by spirits.

Only in their base in Kazemori are they treated kindly, and of those most leave to join the retinue of one of the Daimyo as a very talented mercenary. Still, those who remain are led by the Monomi, meaning 'the one who sees'. The current Monomi is Lady Takeko. Where you'd probably expect her to be a level headed monk like figure, Takeko is actually very approachable. Of course she does actually have a wealth of information and calm. She has the opinion that their order is more necessary than ever as they have replaced the Tenshi in Kazemori as of late, which in turn has lessened the likelihood of panicked yokai attacks. Those who train with her find her to be a rather amusing woman who enjoys training just as much as she does lecturing about the importance of balance in nature.
