Moxy had only ever heard stories of the light. Its presence ran through her ancestors, but she’d avoided its curse when she’d hatched. But she knew that corrupted and infected individuals were dangerous, though there were ways to help them recover.

She’d been sent to a strange place known as EnergyHive when she was young. There, she’d met a dragon who also shared her bloodline’s curse, a shy pearlcatcher named Fester. While seeming quiet at first glance, Moxy quickly discovered Fester’s more talkative side. The two of them could talk for hours on end about various topics, and it was an easy way to pass the time.

Early on, Moxy had noticed that Fester was strangely obsessed with various light relics, ranging from stained glass to shiny weapons and armor, to the trinkets of Luminax. Moxy thought nothing of it at first, for she was collecting weapons of her own, until they’d started their battle training.

It was in the arenas of the Coliseum that Moxy discovered the truth: Fester was infected by the light. It was controlling her actions, causing her to become more aggressive and unstable as each day went by. Desperate to save her cousin and friend, Moxy tried to reach out to remind Fester of the friendly dragon that she’d been before.

As Moxy’s words reached Fester’s ears, she could see the light’s hold on her friend fading away, as Fester used her newfound strength to battle against it. After she was completely healed, strange runes appeared on Moxy, who realized that they were a sign that she could heal those who’d the light had hurt.

Now determined to help as many as she could, Moxy trained others to master their talents in combat. One of her trainees was a pearlcatcher named Illyan. He too carried a curse through his veins, though together they set out to make the world a better place for every dragon.
