THE SMITER

Uriel, angel of a radiant flame born in darkness. He is a grizzled Pearlcatcher, although none could pinpoint the exact number. His ghastly armor, carved to the centimeter, fits tightly against his body as if it were his own shell. Similarly, Uriel rarely takes it off, and his appearance underneath is little known.



Even those who spent a lot of time with Uriel would struggle to pull at his petrified heartstrings. Clutching onto memories of his losses as if they were his own pearl, Uriel avoids connecting to other dragons as many members of his clan have came and went. The only things that seem to weigh him down are the victories of the depraved and the loss of his pearl, attached to a staff used to channel magic. Without it, Uriel would succumb to yet a worse corruption.




The Staff

Uriel's staff is an obsidian-dotted rod of Yslium, a metal from the depths of the Ashfall Waste. Having originally stayed in the Cinderslag, this staff had been forged through the blood of his enemies and the whims of the marketplace.

At the tip of this staff is Uriel's own pearl, the source of its power. Although daringly foolhardy, the pearl of a Pearlcatcher is intricately built and conductive to being imbued with magic. What's even more risky is combining multiple elements, which are normally mutually exclusive. Yet, particularly brave - or foolish - dragons are wont to do this anyway, with varying degrees of success.

Uriel's staff has the following elements on a scale of one to five:
- Shadow: 3/5, from @Uriel
- Lightning: 2/5, from @Anonymous
- Fire: 1/5, from @Kajiko
- Plague: 3/5, from @Hellbound
- Ice: 0.5/5, from @Cataclysm

It is due to this that Uriel tends to avoid short-range combat, as his staff is very erratic and can accidentally discharge magic quite easily.



Uriel's connections with others are distant and often ephemeral, owing to his violent and foolhardy life style.

MORANA THE MAIDEN

Uriel had a brief relationship with Morana, as well as two kids: Raphael and Kamiel. The duo, as well as Morana, have been long unseen, leaving some to wonder if they're even still around.

YORU THE HEIR

The only known living descendant of Uriel, far younger than him. Yoru is inquisitive about his only living great-great-great grandfather, yet Uriel remains silent.

JEREMIAS THE WITNESS

Jeremias is perhaps the oldest dragons in these reclaimed ruins, moreso than Uriel. After the incident with Hellbound, she's went missing. Uriel only gives a wistful glance, questioned about her fate.

XESERUT THE AGGREGATE

Uriel's unrequited lover(s?). He refuses to talk about it.

CATACLYSM THE CURATOR

Accomplice to Uriel, who he quickly bonded with. The two wistfully comment over the fates of passing dragons, watching members come and go with few permanent residents. It is unknown why he is quite attached to them.

"I.. love you too."

It was the first time he had learned to be vulnerable. A growling drive within his heart pushed him ahead, from the very beginning when he had first met her. The two had children, named Raphael and Kamiel. Uriel and Morana watched their children play carefree lives, playing catch with their pearls and nipping each other's wings. The ephemeral youth of children is a strange beauty that cannot be understated, yet their innocence would remain impermanent.

And Uriel had seen that his wife was just a bit off, day by day. Her scales became paler, her eyes drained of color, her pearl just a bit murkier. She would greet him at every dawn with the same old "Good morning!", but her soul seemed to leave her with each iteration. She started to seem as distant to him as he was to most of his clan, and yet he pushed forward.

Not wanting to lose her love, he would awaken every day early to catch crystalline fish and brilliant noggles. When that stopped working, he presented her and their kids shiny accessories and delicate crafts, so that they may look upon the beauty that brought them together. Yet every day, Morana was a little more tired, a little more quiet, a little more.. careless. Even her appetite had lessened with every day, as her scales became see-through.

It had reached its apex when Uriel saw a nearly skeletal Wildclaw, not quite alive and not quite dead. They mirrored her current appearance, pale and sickly. Their stench reached out as if it were a predator on the hunt. Their eyes were grey, with white pupils stretched to the point of nearly tearing. Glancing away from Morana's lethargic rest, they spoke with a monotone, "A lover. How privileged." And Uriel perked up in a cold tremble, as he finally realized the fate that awaited... his ex-lover.
