Born on Halloween night to the esteemed supernatural investigators Cainwen and Genna, Ceryn lives for the chase, joining the family business with pride. A sharp and keen huntress, Ceryn never rests until she's pinned her quarry down and eliminated it where no one else can see. Her fighting style is tailor-made for narrow back alleys and tight spaces, and she considered her greatest gifts to be incredible speed, extreme endurance, and implacable tracking skills. She'll trail behind a malevolent unnatural being for days, staying on their trail until they slip up and can be added to her list of successful hunts, each of which she marks with a tattoo on her hide. She's proud, but never boastful; her marks do the talking for her.
When she's not actively on the prowl, Ceryn spends most of her time carefully looking for targets; unlike others, she doesn't go after every supernatural event she hears about. She'll do her due diligence of detective work first to ensure the creature in question is actually monstrous and a threat to others. If they mind their own business, they walk free.
Most of her free time is spent in libraries doing research. She comes across as steely and unapproachable, and that's how she likes it. Unapproachable to everyone, that is, except Mervin. She'd never tell him, but she privately thinks he's a loveable idiot. Although his theories were rather outlandish, his research skills were surprisingly up to snuff, so she filled him in on her purpose and recruited him to assist with her hunts. The two of them move around constantly, never staying anywhere longer than is needed, although the main patrolling grounds are the Starfall Isles, the Scarred Wasteland, the Tangled Wood, and the Sunbeam Ruins; ungodly creatures just tend to pop up there more often.
