Starglow

a day old, when she found herself in the street. A few hours before, when she had emerged from her broken egg shell, she felt so alone. She felt something laying on top of her, it was heavy, but not heavy enough to crush her. The world around her felt cold and dark, and she felt so scared. When she was strong enough, she opened her eyes to find a dreadful sight.


She was in a small cave, which once held beautiful pieces of art and furnuriture, but now held broken shards of glass and crushed wood, Three eggs the color of ash were smashed and broken in the center of the cave. In the entrance lay a dead coatl, with a spear through his heart. The small dragon finally freed herself from the mass on top of her, and turned to see what had trapped her.


It was a female wildclaw, who was also dead. Starglow's mother had been in a dark corner when the intruders had arrived. She watched as they killed her mate, and smashed her eggs. Smashed all of them, but one, who had managed to roll behind a rock.


She threw herself out of the shadows and curled herself around the last egg, just as a large boulder came down, smashing her head, killing her instantly. The group of murderers left the cave when they saw that all their targets had be eliminated, and flew off into the night. And all of the targets were dead.. all but one lonely egg..
