Born to parents settled in different clans, Rigel chose to remain with the Sunken Stars because of the clan's strong tradition of divination. He has developed expertise in halomancy. Rigel boils the rich sea water down to its solutes. Casting the salt through the air onto a smooth surface, the colorful dragon carefully interprets the salts' movement patterns. He cannot help but share his revelations with trusted friends and even casual acquaintances.

The Pearlcatcher also spends much of his time painting his clanmates, as well as any dragons who purchase his services in the marketplace. He requests hearty conversation over lunch with his subjects. Not only does this allow him to get a better sense of their nature, but it also provides a steady source of gossip material. He hopes to one day convince a Maren to be his muse.
