Andromeda was born in the Leviathan trench to two powerful spell casters. Following in their footsteps, he went on the study runes and life magic, and eventually settled on runic animation.

During a shortage of the Exalted to guard the Sea of a Thousand Currents, he was temporarily posted to Driftwood Drag as a sentry, where he met Aesir.

He took a liking to the light-coloured Skydancer immediately. Her energy and feisty personality was nothing like the quiet scholars of the Drowned Sanctum. When they’d both graduated, he took her back to the Sea of a Thousand Currents, where they later adopted Astra and became the keepers of the Menagerie.

Free from most of his duties, Andromeda spends his time teaching and learning runic magic; Astra jokes that if not for him being the unofficial spokesperson of the Menagerie, they would have lost him to his runes a long time ago.

This, combined with his love for crafting, resulted in tiny stuffed dragon automatons helping them run the sanctuary. (He would have made more, but Aesir complained that it was getting too hard to keep track of a dozen magically alive hatchlings.)

Trivia

• Aside from being skilled in rune magic, Andromeda's specialty of animation (and re-animation) means he is also very skilled in crafting. In particular, he is talented in sewing and gifted Astra a knock-off Bubbly Buddy when xe was a child.

• He is the family's designated driver, i.e. his children will often pile into his mane and hold on for dear life as he flies them around.

• On behalf of the Menagerie and its residents, he often gives lectures and talks at various seminars and conferences.
