Name: Lucy Abner
Alias: Supernova
Age: 32
Height: 5ft6ish
Build: Round/Plump/Stocky (Think a taller Amethyst from SU)
Eye colour: Hazel
Hair colour: Golden blonde
Clothes: loose clothing. Baggy cargo pants, t-shirt, hoodie and sunglasses. Sneakers. The hoodie and sunglasses help her shield her face and eyes from the glare of the light around her. They also help keep her identity hidden. She also keeps a backpack on her person. She really doesn’t want to draw attention to herself and the way she’s dressed is a remnant from her time on the run.
Inventory (in her bag): basic first aid kit (bandages, plasters, safety pins, tweezers, scissors, sterile wipes, tape, needle and thread, painkillers and anti-histamine), skin moisturiser, eye drops, snacks (including a jar of Nutella and some disposable spoons)
Powers: the ability to create mini-suns in her hands. She can launch/fire them long distances. If she holds them for longer without launching them she can increase them in size.
Power drawbacks:
-Her vision never regained fully, and her powers cause her to go temporarily blind if she uses them too often. That’s why she can often be seen squinting as she probably needs glasses. Due to this she relies more on her hearing, as her eyesight is unreliable.
-Her fingers have blistered and scarred over from the heat of her powers. She also has more sensitive and dry skin due to the sun exposure.
-Her powers are at the mercy of her emotions, if she gets too overwhelmed, she can set off an explosion without wanting to.
Fighting style:
-She doesn’t care about fighting, will learn hand-to-hand combat, as long as she doesn’t have to use her powers.
-Only in extreme circumstances will she use her powers and that’s only for defence
-And often she will not use them against a person. Rather launching a sun at the ground or surrounding urban-scape to create destruction or else use the blinding flash to stun enemies.
-But she doesn’t want to cause destruction for no reason (like the press thinks)
-She will also help in the hunting of people down

She was just a lab technician, in her early 30s, working for an independent lab specialising in nuclear fission and electromagnetism.

It was one day, preparing herself for work in the lab, that the experiment red-lined, overloading the system and leading to a red alert. But no matter how much she and her colleagues tried, their efforts were fruitless and there was an explosion of electromagnetic radiation. It was felt in a radius up to 14km away. She was thrown from the building, badly injured but alive. The only one that was to survive.

It was found by baffled doctors, that instead of the UV radiation ripping apart her DNA, as it would have done to everyone else, it bound to her DNA and transformed it. Furthermore, the explosion had blinded her, but only temporarily. However, she would never regain her sight fully and would most likely need the aid of lenses.

She recovered quickly and was sent home, with the orders to revisit the hospital for evaluation and monitoring. But in the meantime, she needed to rest. She had no need to worry about work, as the entire lab she worked at collapsed. So she remained at home.
---
It was just a visit. Her family only wanted to come see her after the accident. Her parents, her brother and his family were all there. They were just being kind, checking up on her after the scare. But with six extra people in the house, it became a lot. The noise levels were rising, her family kept insisting on talking to her, touching her and the world seemed to blur more around her. Her head was splitting and she could feel the anxiety rising.

There was a blinding flash and her world was filled with nothing but a white light.

Nothing, there was nothing left but dust. And in the middle of it she was collapsed.

She came to and she heard some commotion outside. Her vision was almost gone but she could see…damage. Where once stood houses there stood mostly rubble. She could hear suffering, the suffering she caused. As her vision slowly returned the devastation became clearly. And as the sounds of sirens started, she ran.

She ran, not able to face anyone or any consequences of what she had done. She kept running.

At night she would collapse in abandoned buildings. Frightened of what she had become. Physically and emotionally hurt.

One night she let the rage and fear overcome her. The more she thought about what was going to happen the more fearful she became. And once again, she was surrounded by a blinding light.

She ran away blind, ran away from screams and sirens once again. She would never know, until much later, that the devastation she caused was far greater than before.
---
‘You’re a monster. I’m a monster’ a mantra she repeated to herself every day. How can someone so close to light be so tormented by darkness? It was like it was mocking her. Something associated with life and greatness had now caused her the ultimate suffering.
‘What good could come from these hands?’ a thought that kept pestering her, as she stared at her scarred hands. A thought, along with the final looks on her family’s faces. Horror. No matter how hard she tried she would never get rid of that image. It haunted her in her nightmares, only to bleed into the waking world. It all became a blur, what was real, imaginary and memory began to blend together. She tried to drink to numb the feelings, scared that if they overwhelmed her again, she would kill more people. Whenever she got overwhelmed with emotion, she would feel her fingers burning.

It got too much. Everything got too much and she couldn’t escape it. No matter what she tried the memories were there. The different places she went blurred together from the alcohol she drank. The only clear thought in her mind was to end it all. It was the only way.
---
But then he found her. He was young, younger than her for sure, and suave. And most likely rich judging by the suit he had dressed himself in. He had found her, at her lowest point at the banks of the river with a broken bottle in her hand. He was gentle, spoke softly to her. He told her that he had heard about the accident and how she had escaped the investigators.

She confessed to him she didn’t want anything more to do with living as she was just a danger. He told her that he had heard about her powers. He heard about the woman who could create miniature suns from the palms of her hands. He made her feel special.

He said that with his help she could be used to help thousands, if not millions of people. He gave her a new purpose. So, she joined Harry Osborne to work for his company Oscorp. She would let them use her powers so they could provide people with clean energy. Little did she know their true intent.
---
He kept her in a dark room, surrounded by loud machinery. She would form her mini suns and they would be taken, unravelled in front of her eyes as soon as she formed them, by surrounding glass panels. It took a lot out of her, physically draining her very quickly. She was provided with shielding goggles to protect her from the glare from the glass panels but they did not do much, as a part of her powers side-effects she was temporarily blinded.

At first, she thought it would be a simple 9-5 job, but at the end of that first day she found out different. Harry came into the room that evening, a smile on his face, to check up on her. She was exhausted, becoming frightened by being blinded and hoped she would be done for the day. But Harry simply shook his head and activated a device that chained her to the machine. Osborn revealed to her that he was going to keep her prisoner, keep her making power that would be used to build up huge reserves for weapons-making.

She decided then, that in order to ensure that she would not hurt, or be used to hurt, any living person once and for all she was going to need to escape. Fighting against the restraints she turned a mini sun away from the glass panels, pointed downwards, and fired at the base of her restraints. Exhausted and blinded she moved as quickly as she could, using her hands to feel along the pipelines that moved from the panels until they came to an end.

Feeling along the large structure in front of her she could tell it was metallic and rounded. Using the very last of her strength, she gathered up what power she could. She wanted to make a sun so large it would take out her and the building around her. But before she could, she heard something behind her so she turned.

As her eyesight began to come back to her, everything blurred, she could tell Harry was a moment away from grabbing her. She turned to face him; hands held out in front of her. She didn’t want to, as much as she hated this man, she didn’t want to use her powers to hurt him. She closed her eyes, hoping she could forgive herself for what she was about to do.

But she felt her body being pulled. Before Osborn could reach her, a rip opened between them. And before she could flee, they were both pulled in.
---
Her sight had still not fully returned when she came to. She could not tell where she was, but she was outside. Harry was near her, absolutely livid. She could tell he was about to approach her again when more rips opened around them; figures fell through them, one was clad in green and what looked like bricks and stones fell through with them. Another ejected a torrent of water with something dark being carried with it. Lightning flew out of one and another simply dropped through a mound of sand.

The green figure stood first and removed his mask. He looked around, angrily sneering, but it drew a reaction from Harry. He seemed happy, elated even, almost crying. It was his cry of ‘Father’ that settled any lingering questions she had. Norman Osborn, the previous head of Oscorp, was caught up on his son’s endeavours. How he gained a new project to replace his failed tritium sun experiment.

Harry looked past his father and glared at the figure now rising from what remained of the water torrent. Norman Osborn addressed the gathered crowd and quickly took the lead of what became apparent as a band of supervillains. She was dragged into it.

The back of her neck was grabbed and she could hear Harry’s angry voice behind her. She was to be good and obedient and remain under the care of ‘The Doctor’. Fear gripped her. Harsh words were exchanged between the Osborns and what she could only assume was the Doctor. She heard mention of how he had failed Harry with his sun experiment and how she was too burdensome for them to care about anymore. Her and the Doctor were to serve them and should either of them fail again, consequences were to be had.

She felt the hand on the back of her neck push her forward and she fell, onto her hands and knees. Harry laughed and remarked that this Doctor…Octavius, knew how to handle a sun so she should be no worry. She was presented to him as his ‘replacement’.

She looked up at fear at the figure towering above her, four metal arms snaking behind his back. As she stood, he still towered over her, glaring at her from behind dark shades. She could see her reflection in them, and she was shaking. She could feel her fingertips burning.
He removed the sunglasses, regarding her. His face softened, but his eyebrows were knitted. She was surprised at how tired he looked. He glared back at the Osborns before replacing the shades again.

He told her to stick with him, and she would find that that was for her safety more than anything else. The memory of his eyes remained in her mind, and how sad they looked. Her fingers had stopped burning.

Over time she saw more and more behind those shades and he gave up bits and pieces of his history. So did she. And she found out that, like her, he was someone mourning.
