Bero had been born surrounded by love, his first moments in Sornieth looked upon by a range of adoring red, blue and soft green eyes. As he would later come to realise his fathers own family had been disturbingly absent in his past, and he had fought tooth and nail to be by his mates side when Bero's clutch hatched. Bero knew nothing of loneliness or contempt as he grew up in the same streets his father and aunt had walked years ago, with friends, family and even strangers offering their solace and advice.

His adoptive grandfather - his true grandfather, in his eyes - had set aside a small patch of land on his homestead for Bero as he grew up, the pearlcatcher spending ample amounts of time as a child running through the wheat fields, herding goats and, most of all, tagging along at his grandparents' heels as the mirror picked fruit.
