Biography
When you first step foot in Starspire Bastion, the first thing you see is a large wrap-around desk littered with open books and files ready to be squirreled away. A skydancer mans the desk by herself, though a few guards mill around the entry room as security. The skydancer has some scented candles burning nearby as she writes down some documents, making the room smell like Spiced Cider and Cranberries - a smell you'd think would be holiday exclusive but seems to go right along with the Skydancer's appearance.

"Hello, hello! Welcome!"the skydancer calls in a melodious greeting when she looks up from her paperwork. "Welcome to the Lapidian Villiage! I am Athena, and I'm your friendly neighborhood receptionist. Now if you could just sign in for me, we like to keep records of everyone who comes in for a visit." She says as she offers you a Ledger Book and a quill. "Once you've signed in, feel free to take one of those Visitor's Guides. If you're here on business with our High Council please be sure to pen that in next to your name and I'll get you an appointment card. The High Council's chamber is just ahead. You may walk through, but please don't cause any disruptions while they work. We also have a waiting chamber if you have something urgent to take up with the council and we can send someone to get you for an audience as soon as possible." Athena explains. "Otherwise, please do enjoy your stay. Our Inn is The Lanes Between at the edge of town if you need somewhere to stay or if you'd like to mingle with other travelers. We offer religious services at The Shrine. Otherwise, please feel free to explore the village. I'm sure the locals would love to give you a tour!" |

BIOGRAPHY |
|
Athena was born under another name as an orphaned tundra in the Nature flight long before she came to live with the Lapidians. Born a tundra, she had a knack for remembering scents, though she hated she couldn't recognize things by sight. And, having been an orphan, she had very little training from elders to hone her natural skill, nor did she ever get the opportunity to build a strong familial bond with anyone. In reality, Athena hadn't enjoyed being a tundra in a clan of strangers. The scent of her "birth" clan was ingrained in her mind with negative connotation. When she was a teen, however, she was taken to a swapping expo - an event that happens at festivals where clans exchange dragons to integrate new bloodlines. Many dragons had volunteered but others, like her, were "persuaded" to go under the guise that they may find a place among a new clan. The reality was that she had no place in her current clan, and that orphans like her with no known lineage were coveted by certain clans, and her clan would benefit greatly for whomever or whatever was swapped with her. Such events were widely ignored and even frowned upon by some clans, but were a common practice among others as a way to build bonds and treaties. While at the Expo, it was more of a meet and greet event where she and several other orphans from her clan were to meet and speak with the leaders of clans they could maybe go home to. Some of the clan leaders looked at her with a hunger she disliked, like she was a prize to be won. Others looked at her with disinterest, like she wasn't what they were looking for. However some were kind and earnest, merely looking for more dragons to employ into their workforces or to come live in their settlements to keep their economies going. However, Athena hadn't been able to remember any of their names or faces as the Expo went by, and barely could remember some of their scents. The Expo had come and passed during the festival, and they would only know who was going and wo was staying afterwards, once all trades had been processed between the clans. A few days after the Expo, it was announced that she and six others had been had been chosen by a single clan, the Clan of the Lapidia in the Starwood Strand. A hefty dowry was paid out for them rather than other members swapped in exchange. Such a notion left Athena feeling uneasy. She was bought like a piece of meat, and vaguely she remembered the smells of those who looked at her hungrily rather than warmly. However, after the long and arduous journey from the Viridian Labyrinth to the Starfall Isles, Athena's fears were quickly put to rest. They were greeted warmly by a Council of eight dragons, the Clan's royals and their 6 officers; the Advisor, the Lorekeeper, the Healer, the General, the Hoardmaster, and the Archmage. They were all offered lodgings and counseling to find appropriate careers or a change of face. Athena remembered their scent distinctly as one of the friendly clans she had met. Athena had taken the path of changing her identity. She realized that she hated being a Tundra. Too many scents were ingrained in her memories as something lonely or sad, and she abhorred the fact she could not recognize faces. She elected to undergo an entire transformation of body and soul. She met with the clan's lead Healer, Oceanspire, who had worked to procure Change Scrolls for the lost tundra, and educating her on the pros and cons of the potential changes she could make. Athena had elected to change to a Skydancer, a dragon in-tune with other's emotions and one that could recognize other dragons easily. It was the first change she made, the others coming later. The process was painful, even with a Master Healer doing her best to mitigate any issues, but as soon as it was over, Athena realized it was worth it, and that as a dragon she felt much better about herself. Athena, with her new sense of identity, began practicing her new skills as a Skydancer. Quickly, she realized that her abilities as a Skydancer and her previous abilities as a Tundra melded together to create something of increased recognitions of patterns and words. Athena developed a deep memory for names, numbers, and values. She excelled at math and bookkeeping, and used her energy-drive as a Skydancer to throw herself into her passions and studies. Akin to a photographic memory, Athena remembered nearly everything about her clan. Every face had a name, every object an assigned value. She had worked for a while with Thrift, the Hoardmaster, keeping tabs on what cycled through the collective hoard of the clan. Thrift would handle exchanges: any sales, purchases, or donations made on the behalf of the Council. Athena would handle recording every transaction: generating income and expense reports, analyzing what was needed and what wasn't, and singling out weak points in the clan's economy. However, the Council found another pain point in the clan, and found an even better job for Athena's skillset. Eventually, she was elected to become the clan's Receptionist. She was to take note of every dragon that came in and out of the clan, keep track of imports and exports. Athena excelled at this job even better than she had with the job Thrift had given her. She found she loved greeting the visitors warmly. She decorated the reception of Starspire Bastion to resemble a warm and inviting foyer and encouraged everyone to sign in and take an array of materials she prepared to make their stay more enjoyable. Athena also enjoyed writing and sending out any official notices to the Clan on behalf of the Council and loved taking censuses for the clan to keep tabs on the Lapidian population. She even began offering treats and incentives to visitors and citizens alike to provide her with data to organize and file away for the betterment of the clan. Athena never in a million years thought she would become the face of the Lapidians, but she is beyond elated that her life has something so enjoyable in store for her now. |
