"The task of a coaltreader is not as simple as you might expect. We examine manuscripts and confront various contacts, discovering any history of the target and unearthing family relations. A coaltreader's job is of the utmost importance; though we do not fight the battle ourselves, we have the final word of who dies and who gets mercy. A fair warning though, new cinder, pity does not often run through our blood." He narrows his eyes even further, making them appear like gleaming slits. "Ready to declare someone's doom? If not, then haste away and speak to another captain."
