Chimera

As for Chimera…
1. Comes from a minor clan in the Ashfall Waste, but due to his prodigy abilities was put on the radar of many affluent clans, and the Ambassadors of Flame (rich fire clan) took him in.
2. He probably came from an industrial background, but by the time he would have been old enough to get an apprenticeship he would have been already on his magical career path, so he may be vaguely familiar with industrial customs but wouldn’t have ever worked there

I haven’t read FR lore in awhile so I’m not entirely sure how the magic system works, but I imagine that Chimera is able to control magic sort of like a fire bender from ATLA. He can create fire from a flammable source, but it requires energy. From there, he can “bend” the fire into different shapes, move it around, and launch fireballs at dragons.

He does do additional studying on magic and because of the Ambassadors of Flame, is quite educated, but is much more practical than he is scholarly. He reads up as he likes to improve his abilities and feel superior + smarter than his peers, as apposed to actually enjoying reading. Since the Ambassadors of Flame are basically a large clan that organises several smaller clans and profits from the war (general idea here, still ironing out the details), they probably are looking for some way to utilise Chimera’s ability in war/machinery. However, at the moment he’s training and hasn’t gone into an actual job. Chimera is supposed to be improving his abilities and stamina but since he’s a show off he will use his powers to cook/make fireworks to impress dragons. I’ve never thought about where he studies, but I think it would be more likely he started out going to a general academy and learning along with other dragons, before getting to a higher level of skill and getting privately taught by the best fire mages in the flight (all expenses paid for by the clan).

The large Obelisk struts onto the stage, holding his head up with pride. It seems he is late, but this fails to bother him. After all, every dragon should base their schedule around his.
“I am the glorious Chimera - the most attractive, intelligent and talented dragon you will ever meet!” He swishes his mane at the word attractive.

“I used to be a nobody. That may be difficult to imagine. I mean, me? A nobody? But, alas, it is true! I was born in a small clan in the Emberglow Hearth alongside my siblings. I might have stayed there forever, had not the Flamecaller gifted me with fire magic beyond your comprehension! It soon got me noticed, and the Ambassadors of Flame (a rather rich and noble clan, should I say so myself) took me in! My abilities are already stronger than all of my tutors. With further practise, I will soon be-“
A coatl emerges from backstage and reminds him to keep it short.

“Ah, apologies. Anyways, what I wear for my everyday activities? The outfit I have on right now! I am a student of magic, of course I must look the part! I don’t really have to do much physical work anyway; the clan has hired servants and cooks. When I’m practising my magic, I do, unfortunately, have to take the ribbons off. According to Crescent it is a “fire safety hazard”.” He seems irked at this last point, but continues on after a slight grumble about “stupid workplace safety laws”.

“You want something memorable, hm? Well, if you weren’t already dazzled by my fabulous looks, perhaps you will be stunned by my magical powers, as previously mentioned. Without too many spoilers for the talent show, let’s say I can manipulate the smallest spark into a mighty dragon-shaped flame! How’s that for good looking and accomplished, eh?”

The dragon smirks to himself, before taking a bow in front of the missing audience.
“May the best dragon win!” He says, obviously referring to himself. He prances off the stage.

Chimera has been confident the whole show (even when he probably shouldn’t be) but for this round, he is even more cocky than usual.

The obelisk strides onto the stage, wearing an outfit that is similar to his everyday wear, but has less loose fabric (like the ribbons and the long cloak). He also wears some heavy duty goggles.

In the background, a couple staff members gather with fire extinguishers. Not the best sign, perhaps, but it does get the audience whispering excitedly about what is about to happen.

“Dragons of Sornieth! I present to you magic, unlike any you have seen before!” He exclaims dramatically, clearly taking himself extremely seriously.

A small fae dashes to centre stage, places down a small lit candle, before quickly darting away.

The obelisk points his foreclaws in the direction of the flame. Instantaneously, the flame begins to grow upwards. Once it is about the height of a fae, it starts spinning in a spiral; continuing to grow. When it gains a considerable height, the fire morphs once more. It levitates above the candle from which it was born and turns into the figure of a dragon. The gasps from the audience only increase as the draconian form performs actions: running, flying, swishing it’s tail and breathing fire. By this point, Chimera looks tired and exhilarated simultaneously. This isn’t an issue though, as the finale begins.
The fire dragon shifts into a roaring ball of flame - sparks flickering out of the sphere in an attempt to escape. It’s hovering quite a few metres in the air and larger than Chimera himself. Suddenly, the ball explodes. Sparks rain down upon the audience, causing a large amount of screaming before the dragons realise the sparks turn to harmless smoke before they hit the ground. A relieved and impressed audience cheers in response.

Chimera is pretty tired, but that doesn’t stop him from bowing and taking in the applause, until the staff ushers him off the stage. Despite reassuring that the show was completely harmless, medical professionals still have to legally check the audience for burns. Overall, the audience loved the show and the workers did not.

Chimera strides confidently onto the stage - dressed in a golden tailored suit. He’s gotten this far, and feels like he will be the winner of the Hottest Forger for sure. Unfortunately for him, it will be up for the judges to decide.

He takes his place on a chair stationed opposite to where Missy is sitting, lounging as if it were his own home.
The guardian starts the interview confidently, “Welcome Chimera! Now, how do you plan on using your Hottest Forger platform to help your or other communities?”

“As you may know, the Flamecaller has gifted me with powers beyond that of even the most talented sorcerer! With a platform like this, thousands of dragons will get the chance to meet me, and will be blessed by my very presence! They’ll even meet my kids! I mean, think of how many autographs I’ll get to give!”

“What makes me different from the other competitor? Well, other than the fact that I am objectively more beautiful, I am actually mortal. Plus, that guy speaks in riddles and stuff. I mean, do you really want some weird embodiment of hunger to win a competition? I am simply the superior competitor.”

“What do I like most about myself? That’s hard to choose! After all, I am the most beautiful, intelligent, powerful dragon alive. However, I think my best quality is that of determination. Even when dragons tell me that ‘I’m annoying’ or ‘have a big ego’ I still have the courage to power on and prove that I am, in fact, the greatest dragon alive.”

“Whilst I am the most important individual in my clan, the most important role is a more difficult question. However, I think it is the leader. I hate dragons thinking they’re more important than me as much as anyone, but if it wasn’t for our leading Banescale’s guidance, the clan wouldn’t have taken me in and given me the opportunity to be here today.” He seems unusually embarrassed about this question, perhaps he isn’t used to admitting other dragons are better than him?

“Ah! I’m not one for politics particularly (unless those politics involve me being supreme ruler of all). Really, I just think we should all utilise the power we have been given to reclaim the world for the Flamecaller and win the war. Whether that involves cutting jobs or not, or making the most money possible or not.”

“It’s funny, because it was actually an ancient dragon that helped me adapt to the real world, outside my limited bubble. But, I’d tell them to try and put on some apparel because seeing all these dragons walking around without any sense of style really infuriates me. I mean, seriously? I’m not saying to wear a full outfit but at least have a nice accent or something.”

He unexpectedly sighs. “One of my many dreams is to one day meet the Flamecaller, the dragon who made me everything I am today. If I were to meet her right now, I would thank her as much as possible for everything she has done. Then, I would ask for an autograph.” His somber tone of voice suggests this last line is not a joke.

“There are many characteristics the Hottest Forger must have, but style and character are definitely necessary if you want to get anywhere. Plus, an extreme dedication and love for our dear Mather is also vital. Incase you haven’t noticed, I have all of those things. Now, I’m not suggesting anything here, but I do suggest that the judges make me win.”

“If I win the Hottest Forger, I’d probably celebrate by buying myself a fabulous outfit and bragging to my wife about how amazing I am. If I can, perhaps I can convince Crescent to host a party back at the clan. Plus, I’ll never miss an opportunity to tell everyone I know about how I won this competition.”
Interview over, Chimera gives a dramatic bow to soak up the audience’s applause before walking off stage.
