Esperanza's parents were Storm the Imperial of the Plague flight, and Ruveia the Guardian of the Light flight. She was born in an ancient lair hidden within the Hewn City. Her father was a Shadow Shifter, and although it is unclear what exactly that entailed, it spoke of the strangeness of her birthplace. Naturally, Esperanza herself grew up to be a little bit odd, preoccupied with spirits and omens. Her dark colouration and the way she can somehow move in complete silence, like a shadow, makes her seem like some kind of spirit herself. She drapes herself in golden raiments and is often seen surrounded by floating, haunted candles, murmuring to herself, speaking little prayers and chants, and communing with the spirits only she can see. Somehow, in spite of this off-putting behaviour, many find her approachable and even soothing to be around. She has had two hatchlings with Sylvanus, the one known as the Gladewalker. The female is gone, but the male, Glade, has remained.
