While these creatures are known for being wild and lusty, Cheiron was intelligent and kind, as well as knowledgeable and skilled in medicine, music, archery and prophecy. He was a great healer and highly revered as a teacher and tutor for many heroes. When he was poisoned with an arrow, he sacrificed his life in favor of Prometheus. Ironically, Cheiron, the master of the healing arts, could not heal himself, so he willingly gave up his immortality. He was honoured with a place in the sky, identified by the Greeks as the constellation Centaurus.]
