Born in the swaying terrain of the Windswept Plateau, Macabre never truly felt like he belonged anywhere until he discovered the Dorsia clan. Wanting to escape the strong winds of their homeland, Macabre and his twin sister, Mazu, traveled across the Sea of a Thousand Currents with no real destination in mind, only wanting to branch out from their parents and find their independence together. When they arrived in the Tangled Wood, Macabre fell in love with the thick mists and murky waters and decided to stay. It was here that he met his mate, Michonne, who had also initially intended only to pass through.

Macabre is incredibly protective of his sister, though arguably not as much as his mate is. He also has a tendency to dote on her, as she can do no wrong in his eyes. He's not a big fan of the ocean, but sometimes he'll accompany Mazu and Michonne on one of their many visits to the Sea of a Thousand Currents. He much prefers hunting for meat in the Wood though.
