Longitude takes his duty as one of the clan's geographers very seriously. While his mate, Latitude, explores and documents the wilderness in each region the clan visits, Latitude navigates the populated areas. Through his travels, he has met an incredible variety of dragons and beastclans, some friendly and some strange. There was one particular den he would never forget.

While following a winding dirt road, he met a strange Fae that offered no name as introduction. Instead, the smaller dragon simply beckoned onward, wordlessly leading him. Curious, Longitude followed the Fae to a den that shined like liquid gold. At first, it looked like a magnificent amber Fae den, but as he approached, he realized the scale of it was far larger than anything he’d ever seen before. It must have been ancient. The walls resembled amber, but yet the color and quality of it was shifted somehow. Amber but not quite amber. It seemed to be something else.

As Latitude took in the architecture, he reached for his notepad to document the scene. Before he could make any progress, however, he was interrupted by a small swarm of Fae. There were perhaps seven of them, and they led him to the mouth of the den. He tried to resist, as the opening was far too small for any dragon bigger than the tiny Fae. They insisted, dragging him forward wordlessly. The little dragons were much stronger than they looked. As they got closer to the mouth of the den, Latitude found the opening much larger than he anticipated. It was a little uncomfortable, but Latitude entered the den with the swarm of Fae. He managed one last glimpse of daylight outside before they pulled him onward, deeper into the honey colored tunnels.

The further into the tunnels he went, the more little Fae gathered around to see. Not one of them spoke. His worry increased the further they guided him onward, but he felt powerless to stop them

"What do you want?” Latitude finally asked. There was an odd echo as his voice carried through the strange den network. It was as if the material resonated with the sound of his voice. All at once the fae stopped and stepped back. Up ahead, it looked like there was a light source coming from the far end of the tunnel. Behind him, back the way he came, the golden walls were darker. He wasn’t sure he could retrace his steps to find the exit again. Latitude made a decision and ventured forward, this time of his own free will.

Latitude continued forward, and when he glanced back, the Fae were gone. He was alone in their mysterious, winding tunnels. Still, he pressed onward. After a few more twists and turns, Latitude found the source of the light: an exit! Picking up the pace, he moved out into the sunlight and stretched his wings. They felt stiff as if he hadn’t flown for some time.

When Latitude made it back to his clan, he learned he had been gone two days longer than he remembered.
