Biography

Abaddon
The Demon Sister
Clanguard

"Bah, gonna need another bath again. Getting blood out from between the fins is a pain..."

A screeching racket drew Euryale's attention from fussing over Linnad and Coronar. A hatchling's defiant roar got her running. She got a brief glimpse of a guardian child being menaced by a pair of harpies before her teeth sunk into a feathered wing. The other flew away as Euryale sprayed blood and feathers across the terrace. After a brief argument discussion with her parents, Abaddon joined the clan. Afraid of anything swinging close to her head from the harpy incident, she had shied away from the roughousing most of the hatchlings her age reveled in. Still, hatchlings will be hatchlings and Abbadon would happily scream her little heart out during tag, hide and seek, or other games. Between Zariel, Mirinae and Iuriel, there's plenty of friends to work off her energy with.

The larger dragonesses (plus Mirinae, despite her small stature) have formed a sort of combat readiness club. They all have energy to work off and, besides Raziel's work in the Borderguard, no real way to work it out. It's Abbadon who names them, despite being its most timid member: The Demon Sisters.
Raziel is the one to convince their reluctant mascot to join them in the Coliseum. The small guardian, only slightly larger than her wildclaw Sister, sticks close to the ridgeback as she led them to the Training Fields and let her explore. After nothing accosted them on the first few trips, she becomes bold enough to explore the rocks and fields by herself.

This time when something flies at her face, her roar dwarfs the one she made as a hatchling.

When Raziel speeds over, Abbadon is sprayed with blood over a webwing corpse with a frenzied look in her eyes. When she looks up, she paws a few feathers out of her mouth, cauldron bubbling in her head.
"I think.... I want to train with you all."
Which brings a sharp grin to Raziel's face. She's small for her breed but that gives her an agility that Iuriel can't match and a strength greater than Mirinae's. Her wounds heal faster given her plague heritage and the fast-acting bacteria in her fangs drag big prey down. She still won't join her Sisters in patrolling yet, not confident enough to face down roving marauders or organized beastclan scouts. But she walks prouder than before, treating it as preparation for her search and protecting her future charge.

For a few days during the first Night of the Nocturne, Abbadon paces the lair restlessly, like she'd lost something but couldn't remember what it was. Even without Iuriel's anticipatory smile, she can tell this must be her Search, but it seems to be right here. Going farther from the lair feels wrong, like she needs to be back. When Zariel is assigned to find where the clan's stored bones are disappearing to, she follows him more out of shared curiosity than any real reason. But the moment she laid eyes on the hatchling Kitai, that restless feeling melted under a wave of protective rightness that becomes a daunting devotion when she rests that night with the tiny hatchling perched in her wings. This must be how her adopted mother felt taking them all in, and she vows she'll do it right too. It's time to join her sisters in the clan guard.

Kitai joins Abbadon for most of the Demon sisters' expeditions outside the clan, anyplace they deem safe enough to spare one dragon to wrangle an enthusiastic hatchling. At first it's because she doesn't want to leave her charge behind, and eventually because Kitai enjoys exploring with her 'older sisters'. Her enthusiasm and curiosity brings them to hiding places and secluded spots in search of small creatures and buried secrets and her joy at finding 'secrets' binds them all in tight sisterhood. They are some of her best and favorite memories.

The Shadeling raiding team comes without any warning and she has never fought so ferociously in her life. Abbadon nurses her sore ribs and battered wings. Fighting dragons in lethal combat is more intense than practice or even battling yetis. But she's been exposed now. She knows now that she'll need to pace herself, strike hard, pull on her magic like Thomas always encouraged her to. Her charge's safety depends on it. She will follow the other demon sisters into battle against her god's antithesis.

…The assault did not go well. One of her sisters is dead. She herself nearly died, if not for Thomas's quick rescue. She broods in the tunnels, Kitai helping change her bandages, and knows she must do more if she ever stands a chance of protecting her charge.

(This is about when Belael joins the clan proper, and then her attachment to Arden.)
