Comfort is an angelic creature, borne of Heaven and sent to Sornieth to purify the lands with his husband Joy. They were both sanctioned at a secluded area to begin their work. After arriving on Sornieth, Joy immediately set out to accomplish his heavenly quest. A major part of it was to "purge" the Outskirts - which meant to destroy it. On his way to his outpost, however, he was met by some of the settlers there, and almost immediately he took a liking to them. As he got to know them, his heart began to ache at the idea of their destruction. He quietly decided, then, not to delve into that specific facet of his assignment. Instead, he focuses on purifying concentrated areas of the land, to make the Outskirts more inhabitable. As an angel, Comfort is noble and innocent, kind and forgiving beyond all measure. Many hail him as a perfect being, but he doesn't consider himself to be. He strives for perfection and becomes upset when he fails, often having to be consoled by Joy or his friends (notably, his friends include Kallah and Piotr). He has the ability to purify life, and his partner has the ability to create it (especially plant life). Comfort likes to garden, planting infected and wilting plants and then nursing them back to full health and purity. He gives his harvest to other clan members for free, intent on making the lives of others as happy and easy as possible. Some may think he's putting on a show, but his most trusted friends will insist he isn't - Piotr especially, relying on his incredible olfactory senses to judge Comfort's exquisite character. Comfort is furthermore very good with hatchlings. He is incredibly kind-hearted, and enjoys basking in the warmth of other good-hearted creatures - hatchlings and other younglings are the purest of all beings, and so he is drawn to their inherent purity. He sometimes gives them rides across the Wasteland, using his large wings to glide across the currents. Using his angelic power, he ensures none of the young ones are at risk of falling off. |
