 Mars is a First Generation Obelisk, one of the statues come to life at the conclusion of the Dustcarve Dig. He came to the Arcane domain, though it is not certain why, except that he had his eye on Anemone, another First Generation Obelisk.

They had a nest together of four hatchlings, but when Anemone learned that Mars had no real desire to fulfill the Earthshaker's purpose, and was only interested in seeing just how much power and influence he could gain by pretending, she threw him out.

If he was upset, he didn't show it, apart from calling her some choice names. He had nothing to do with her or the hatchlings after that.

Later on, he managed to convince a young, naive Second Generation Obelisk named Minerva to leave her mate for him, and they had three hatchlings together before she figured out what kind of a character he was, and went back to her first lover.

Again, Mars took little interest in the hatchlings. He joined Bloodbane's clan, and the next time he was seen, his appearance had altered dramatically. Now, no one would mistake him for anything but a monster.
