She was an unexpected addition to the Clan, hatching from a previously quiet Earth Egg only minutes after the Clan’s newest “brother,” a strikingly handsome member of the new “Obelisk” breed, arrived at the Main Entrance. The male Obelisk’s amazing story of being created and given a Charge by the Earthshaker himself was so riveting that the entire Clan focused on him, and no one noticed that the Earth Egg found only recently in the Redrock Cove was suddenly stirring…No one, that is, except for Imbolc, the Clan’s Nursery minder. Imbolc saw the shaking Egg and quickly swept it up and into the Hatching Grounds, where it promptly shattered and produced…another Obelisk! Or rather, a baby Mirror female which shimmered and shifted into Obelisk from seconds after her birth. Only Imbolc saw the little one’s original shape, and she isn’t telling…

6-19-21: The young Obelisk is growing rapidly, and beginning to explore her new home. Right now she and “Tectus,” her faithful Sanddrift Fuiran companion, whose Wariness of the Clan as a whole has rapidly transferred to loving Tolerance of his new friend, have been spending a great deal of time in the Library. It seems that the Clan’s newest member is fascinated with the idea of building Wards and Shields. In fact, she seems almost driven to explore these concepts as much as possible…

6-22-21: After reading through much of the Library's small stock of scrolls that dealt with various kinds of Warding spells, the now Adult Obelisk has moved her attention to the Elemental Magics Cave, where her intensive studies have already caused her to develop a translucent "Crystalcourt Halo." Apparently, she is determined to make some "Earth Wards" around the Lair, and especially underneath the caves, to protect from attacks from below--though what, exactly, she thinks is going to attack is not clear. But she is so focused on this idea, that she has hardly eaten since she began. Hopefully now that she has found her "anchor"--an old Onyx Talonclasp Pendant hidden in the back of the Vault--she will slow down a little bit. It isn't like there is an eminent threat from below that the Clan has to be worried about, right? Surely, if that were the case, they would have sensed something...

9-12-21: While the young Obelisk remains driven to provide protections to the Clan, her success at creating her "Earth Wards" appears to have calmed her considerably. She has started to actually pay attention to daily Clan life, and thankfully has even begun to join the other dragons for meals. And today the young one has been introduced to a milestone in Clan life, and a new reason not to be so obsessed with spells all the time: "Tectus," her Sanddrift Fuiran, has Awakened! The female Obelisk is very happy for her friend. She has even taken the time to set aside her latest research to celebrate with him--and talk over with this, new, smarter version of her companion what he thinks of her newest ward scheme...
