She dreamed of a world shrouded in darkness. The trees were black, and their leaves reached back towards the earth, as if they weeping. She scrambled over a pillar, and then over the horizon a glittering sea stretched out before her, reflecting the light of a million stars. The woods, the darkness, it had been her home. Now as the wind passed through the branches, it whispered to her. Exile. You are with us or against us. The truth was that she was neither. Some of the visions were gifts. This one was not. It was a memory— hers. The Earthshaker had not been her god, but now, she supposed, he was. It was his words she heard as she slept, him that had plucked her soul from the channels of time, him that had dreamed this new form. And she was grateful. Halcyon is one of the Obelisks created by the Earthshaker within the depths of Dragonhome. Although her memories are fragmented, she lived a past life as an Imperial in which she swore off inter-flight violence in favor of combating threats to all of dragonkind. Her magical technique is unusually advanced for a dragon of her age, perhaps from her first life or a blessing as one of the first Obelisks. At the conclusion of the excavation, Halycon crossed paths with representatives of the Society. They were impressed with her talent and she was interested in their mission. When they returned to the Starfall Isles, she came with them. As a magister, she primarily focuses on the acquisition of new texts and artifacts, and works closely with the sentinels to ensure the security of the operation. |
