Given the amount and degree of suffering and death that the Exultant Order inflicts on other clans, it should come as no surprise that they have their fair share of enemies. Though usually the aggressor, it is not uncommon for the Order itself to be attacked by these foes. There have even been assassination attempts by those who believe that the Order's reign of terror might be ended simply by destroying their leader, the shaman Orchid.

 Jaydon was born to the Shadow clan that had the misfortune of being targeted by the Exultant Order. His clan was not one of warriors; when the Order invaded their territory and laid out their demands, his people had little choice but to accept them. The Order thus followed their usual protocol with their vassals, culling all those they believed to be unworthy and sparing the rest. However, the Shadow clan never forgot those they lost and though they openly swore fealty to the Exultant Order, in secret, they planned their revenge.

As part of their plot, they sent Jaydon as a "convert" to the Order's territory. There, he spent months playing the part of a loyal believer, waiting for the signal that the time was right to strike. The Shadow clan's plan was simply; remove Orchid and disappear—then watch the Order die as surely as a beheaded snake.

Unfortunately, it would never come to pass. After capturing one of the Shadow clan's spies, the Order learned of their plot and retaliated in force, utterly wiping out Jaydon's clan. As for Jaydon, he was chased down into the depths of the caverns running below the Order's territory, though the pursuit was cut short by a cave-in that killed the would-be assassin. Though the Order's warriors never bothered to dig out the body, it's believed that even if he survived being buried alive, surely the freezing cold at those depths would have finished the job...
