B I O G R A P H Y

Main Theme: The Artifact and the Living

______ Interval was discovered on one of the Order’s incursions into the Southern Icefield, on the edges of the Fortress of Ends. Though the exploration team encountered many a dragon frozen and trapped among the Fortress’s icy spires, only one was deemed of enough interest to extract: a beautiful female Nocturne, graceful form wrenched open by some long-past calamity, her wounds now frozen over with ice.

Though she was originally thought dead, the exploration team was fascinated by how immaculate her preservation was, especially given the extent of her wounds, and extracted from the ice for further examination. To their shock, upon being removed from the ice, the Nocturne breathed anew. Realizing she was still alive, they immediately brought her back to the Order where the Shaman could interpret the meaning of her revival.

Unfortunately, once the Nocturne was again able to communicate, it was found that she retained no memories of her former life, save one: unbearable pain, rushing wind, and then icy waters closing over her head. It was also discovered that the Nocturne was blind, though there was no way to tell whether this blindness was natural or inflicted. Orchid spent many days inspecting and speaking to the Nocturne, interspersed with long periods of meditation. Eventually, Orchid declared that the Nocturne’s survival and discovery had been a miracle ordained by the Ones Apart and that she had a place in the Exultant Order. She was given the name “Interval,” to signify the unknown duration she had spent trapped within the ice.

______ Interval now lives in the deepest underground recesses of the clan's cave system, where the clan’s mages use spells to keep the air frigid cold in order to maintain the ice sealing her wounds. Even underground, Interval has a startlingly precise sense of time and can foretell the shift of seasons, moons, sunrise, and sunset, down to the exact minute. She has become the unofficial timekeeper of the Order and even Orchid herself makes use of her insight to better understand the will of the Ones Apart.
