Wicked, conniving, and selfish. Those are three words often found whispered in the same breath as Vsylyss' name. Behind closed doors, of course. For it to reach the ears of this brutal Revenant is unwise for one's health.
Vsylyss was once of a much larger stature-- a Guardian. She was a terror to all she towered above, both in appearance and character. She is a sadist, drawing true pleasure from the pain and misfortune she brings upon others. Even the most cold of Revenants, Noctis and Maelgad, find their stomachs churning with unease in her prescence. She proved far too destructive, especially to Wolf, a mere low-ranking guard at the time.
Wolf was stationed in the fortress, and saw Vyslyss' cruelties upfront on many accounts. She simmered in quiet contempt, forcing herself to hold back and stick to her duties. To break rank and attack Vsylyss was dangerous. If Vsylyss didn't outright kill her, she would find another way. If not that, capital punishment awaited-- or at the minimum, she faced losing her position. Loss of her title was risky; she could not keep an eye on the sadistic Revenant, nor covertly thwart her actions were she not present.
In a plot fueled with pure spite, Wolf tainted Vsylyss' food with a potion that would irreversibly change her form. Much to Vsylyss' dismay, she could no longer physically overpower many of Unsol's citizens. While not complete in mitigating the Revenant's sadistic deeds, it did for a large part lessen their impact.
Vsylyss still retains her job as a Revenant of Unsol. After understanding her true nature, the citadel's spirit chose to not terminate her, rather than relocate. She haunts the prisons of the fortress as torture master, still reveling in her monstrous ways. At least now, it is contained away from Unsol's innocents. Her ire has been redirected toward those convicted of the most unforgivible crimes. Vsylyss' gifted power as a Revenant allows her to regenerate other's vitality-- deemed a miracle, were it bestowed unto to anyone else.
It's twisted by her dark nature, allowing her to continuously inflict grievous injury-- driving her victims past the brink of madness. Screams occasionally echo up from the fortress' bowels, chilling the blood of those unfortunate enough to hear them.
