bio ❧ A communally raised child, and one of the many Crows that had the unorthodox upbringing of living in a flock with so many different species, Yangfan had always been enamored by the ocean and what it held for someone like him. It was odd, in truth, being a sea-bird compared to most of his peers, but determined to prove the others wrong, he'd jumped on a vessel bound to the Tangled Wood in an act of defiance, bidding his parents a hasty goodbye as he sailed into the far beyond. Yangfan was unfortunately disappointed to find that Shadow's territory was largely land-locked, and the goop was not safe for any forms of sailing. He'd settled in a nearby inn for the time being, unfortunately catching the eye of an enterprising Eboncrow scion who would recognise someone of his craft nigh-instantly. Qicheng had approached Yangfan, suggesting to buy the younger Crow drinks, and Yangfan, unaware of the trickery and only happy to see a familiar face, had taken Qicheng up on his offer. It hadn't taken long for Yangfan to drink Qicheng under the table instead, the poisons Qicheng attempted to use failing on the Effuvial Crow. Searching the other's belongings turned up precious little, but Yangfan seemed to have an idea of where to go next...and the next thing that happened would be Yangfan showing up at the Jade-winged Beast's domain, volunteering his seafaring expertise for a daring escape out of the Tangled Wood and into the far beyond. Lisil was impressed with what she saw, and in Yangfan's eyes, she saw herself...a long time ago. Qicheng was significantly less pleased to have the Crow he'd tried to hustle now a permanent fixture in the lair they shared, and made note to avoid the peppy Effuvial Crow as much as possible.

notes ❧ - with so many Crow species at his hometown, everyone got along - ridiculously good at all kinds of crafts - can hold his liquor really well - good with his hands, loves to tie knots to pass the time - plays the lute with decent proficiency - aggressively chipper; threaten him with a good time tbh - Qicheng hates him for embarrassing him - folds you cute origami boats if you ask nicely

trivia ❧ - has a hypnotic charm about him; it's weirdly difficult to get upset at him or about him - immune to most poisons due to his general physique and upbringing - keen eye for jewelry just like mum, usually adorned with rings and baubles - middle child of a brood of 3, thinks his older brother might've went to Plague - carries a golden compass with him, a gift from his parents - especially friendly to other Crows, views them as family a lot of the time Sleepykitsune wrote:
Your parents gently press a gold compass into your outstretched hands; expressions bittersweet at your departure, but they smile and wish you a safe journey. You'll always be welcome if you decide to come back; but first you must journey and find yourself out in the world.
"May you have safe travels." They call after you; but your eyes are now on the horizon, leaving your birth clan far behind.
