bio ❧

To reach tomorrow, one has to set off immediately.

A rare Eboncrow that hadn't been affiliated with a flock, but trained in the covert arts of information gathering and familiar with the networks and channels one has to get to in order to achieve a means to an end, Qicheng set off on his own into the Tangled Wood, chasing a forbidden, almost lost thread of long-forgotten servants of the Shadowbinder, whom they claimed were sealed into obsidian statues as punishment for biting off far too much they could chew.

Qicheng doesn't discuss his past affiliations or any parts of his business with the Plagued Queen, Lisil. After the Jade-Winged Beast left the embrace of the Wired Claws with Camelcase's fall, still the same number as when she'd started her doomed voyage, he'd simply appeared one day claiming allegiance and information, insisting that she would thank him later. What he didn't discuss was the negotiation that'd taken place behind closed doors and the watchful eye of her bodyguard Trooper, who'd sensed the deception from him instantly and then proceeded straight to her Kill protocol, one which Lisil immediately called off (even if she was rather perplexed at having a bounty on her head).

In truth, Qicheng is unique...because he had nobody else to turn to, with no siblings or even an inkling of his own truth. Everything he learnt were self-taught, claiming everything he knew in his own independence as his own, and those who knew him well enough would recognise him as someone who had made his choice to be fiercely devoted to the willowy queen who wished not of sovereignty but peace...peace he knew nobody else could secure.

Even so, Qicheng is still a gangly teenager, smaller than his peers and definitely not as skilled as the other Crested Eboncrows who'd already made a name for themselves with their immense acumen and techniques. He wants to live up to their legacy, but there is only so much one can do with an idealised perspective of a darker trade...

notes ❧

- only child of the clutch, eldest of the batch. Could make for interesting shenanigans later.
- extremely well read and highly charismatic, almost dizzingly charming...if not for the niggling feeling you get that he isn't what he seems
- uses the alias "Journey" when carrying out jobs on behest of his lord
- less defined magical markings than a usual Eboncrow; uses this to blend in as a "generic, dark-feathered Wildclaw" until it's too late
- a trained assassin very skilled in subterfuge as well as the liberal usage of poisons.
- if all else fails claws to the skull does the trick too
- gifted the Sable Pendant and Darksteel Bracelets by his parents. He never takes them off
- name means "setting off on a journey" in Chinese
- references: 欧阳靖 and his Toad Skill? 黄药师's abilities?

trivia ❧

- He might've had a contract out for Lisil at first: his first contract, even, as an informat.
- Absolutely has a crush on Lisil.
- Fluffs up like an orb when upset or distressed, which is rare considering he tries to pretend otherwise
- Actually kind of a bratty teen tooting his own horn about how much he knows
- Lies like 70% of the time
- Not as experienced as he claims to be. Give it time
