gains more and more stone-like qualities as she grows*, as well as causing her talons to darken. her eyes also grow more and more sensitive due to the excess magic leaking out in the form of snowflakes, leading to a pair of her moms old goggles becoming a main part in her day-to-day wardrobe

also a note for later, will probably add somewhere into the lore or as a lil family section

*even if obelisks dont get some sort of lore that links the statue stuff to every obelisk (ie they can turn into statues and vice versa) buttercup absolutely got influenced a little due to her egg being nearby while the obelisks were being made. thats why she hatched one, though her egg had already absorbed ice magic - why she isnt an earth derg. it also makes parts of her body gain those stonelike qualities, from her claws to her fangs. and obsidian obviously has some of the same qualities, though slightly differently (sometimes a part of her might still be a little more stonelike after reverting out of her statue form)

okay but first lore while we wait for that damn ob encycolpedia page;


- from the ice egg terra found hiding in her fourth supply cache, and hatched around the time the fifth and final tunnel of the dustcarve dig was finished.


- terra, amongst the dragons eagerly cheering after the final rock fell and the tunnel was completed, found herself holding a strange little hatchling in her makeshift sling, unlike any dragon species she had seen before.


- breed description tba, depends on what we learn. terra is very confused tm but as resigned herself to being their caretaker anyway


-apparently news travels fast, as almost as soon as everyone was herded away from the strange statues, murmurs of the strange dragonet have spread throughout the masses, some trying to glance at the sunrise scaled hatchling, only for terra to cover her up in more fabrics, to an indignant squawk from the now hidden dragon.


- dragons stopped trying to stare at her as others who'd held on to their unexpected new clanmates also experienced them deciding to hatch, and more and more of the strange new dragons discovered.


-soon enough dragons brought news of similar things happening to those who'd sent the eggs back to their clans, and it was quickly realized that something new had been discovered.




- buttercup, named for her warm scales, is brought back to the castaway shores. terra and obsidian become her parents, as the clan as a whole adopts her regardless.




- most likely joins the guard, but otherwise takes up the role of the clans protector once she reaches full maturity, primarily because she ends up slightly taller/larger than her mum
