Toska stays within the Archives most of her time, preferring the company of old books and the silence of candles over dragons'. She takes great care in writing tomes herself, as her voice is often indecipherable, and written down it won't be forgotten- even if it's not understood. Occasionally, when presented with an individual, Toska will be able to prophesize their futures, speaking in her unknown language.

Name meaning:
Toska – noun /ˈtō-skə/ – Russian word roughly translated as sadness, melancholia, lugubriousness. According to Vladimir Nabokov “No single word in English renders all the shades of toska. At its deepest and most painful, it is a sensation of great spiritual anguish, often without any specific cause."

Toska is the descendant of Gamayun, one of the birds of Slavic pagan myth and a supposed archangel of Paradise. She is seen as a large dark bird with the head of a beautiful woman, and is the counterpart to Alkonost.
Gamayun cooperated with pagan Slavic gods, notably Kryshen, Kolyada and Dazhbog, and Veles. She is seen as a personification of Veles—a renowned deity of wisdom, who keeps secrets regarding the world and man’s creation. She is aware of the true nature of all the gods and humans, and sang in the Book of the Vedas. The being’s hymns are believed to be divine and to have magical properties, her voice is difficult to understand and decipher, but the few humans who can comprehend her words can have their future prophesied and opulence as a gift.

Toska's "symbol" are Nightjars, specifically the Eared Nightjars, and from them, the Satanic Nightjar (Eurostopodus diabolicus) and Great Eared Nightjar (Lyncornis macrotis)
