Lazarus comes from the region of Sablesong, known for its quiet and mysterious dragons, and Lazarus is no different from that. Often he keeps to himself, shooting a glare at people who stare for too long and actively trying to avoid interaction, but his mystery is what causes others to keep coming back. His vast intelligence and cool nature often intimidates others at first, but those close know he can be charming and humorous. He practiced shadow magic on his own for a majority of his life while travelling the realm. During his travels, he collected useful items and often gave them out to those in need and would use his strong powers to assist others, though if you pointed out that he was a nice person, he would immediately deny and change the subject, or just walk away from you.

He heard of the loss of the realm's Wardens, but didn't express interest in becoming one at first. That was, until he stumbled across Sutton during his travels, and they immediately formed a close friendship. The two of them could be rather standoffish at first, but as Lazarus grew more comfortable with them, he opened up with his humor and was found to be much less scary and cruel as outsiders may have thought. Sutton eventually convinced Lazarus that his shadow manipulation was strong enough to make him a Warden, and after heavy consideration (and plenty of peer pressure), he took up the opportunity and joined the ranks of the realm's Wardens.
