He was born into a family of bakers, who named all their children after desserts. Turnover turned his back on the family business to train as an archaeologist. He goes by "Chisel" in the field, and is very embarrassed by his birth name.

(His family jokes that he got "dessert" and "desert" mixed up, and that's the reason for his career)

Chisel was present during the Dustcarve Dig. He lost count of the number of heart attacks Velya gave him.

Most of the sites he's worked in have been in Cairnstone Rest, helping Velya to excavate historical tombs while avoiding the combat and bandit raids of the area. However, once he becomes a journeyman he plans to focus his work in the Greatwyrm's Breach. He's fascinated by the murals and cave paintings which tell the history of Sornieth's species.

Occasionally Chisel and Velya trade with or hire guides from a native clan living in the Parched Canyonwalks. There's a tundra there who seems to have taken a shine to him. Keelah volunteers any time they need a guide. She's a scavenger, and while the objects she seeks are considerably more modern than the artifacts Chisel searches for, she seems fascinated to listen to his discoveries. Chisel tries to ignore Velya's knowing grin while he blushes and tells Keelah about their latest work.
