Biography

Name meaning: "Mad as a hatter" is a colloquial English phrase used in conversation to suggest (lightheartedly) that a person is suffering from insanity. It is believed to emanate from Denton, Greater Manchester, where men in the area worked predominantly in the hattery business, which used mercury in the hat making process. The accumulation of mercury in the body causes symptoms similar to madness.

Based on the Royal Opera House's Mad Hatter.
~.~

Hatter came from Necropolis, a city of the dead in the Rotrock Rim that is guarded by a clan known as the Keepers of the Dead. Regardless of the company he holds, living or dead, he will serve tea and he will do so with tippity-tappety toes.

Somehow, he was "recruited" by the proclaimed Queen of Hearts for her most royal court of ballet. Having not been given much room to decline and finding the situation mostly amusing, he decided to go along with her plans - a decision she might very well be regretting each time his feet can't help but to be as noisy and chaotic as the rest of him. She may scold him for it, but when his feet start tapping he cannot deny them their desire to speak! Even Phantom (whose opera house they took up residence in upon arriving in Haven) and Kurotori (Haven's dance instructor) don't seem to know what to make of his strange mix of styles, particularly when he insists on partnering with MarchHare's more bouncy ballet steps.

Note: I dug up some interesting lore that is probably related to a different Necropolis, but I can work with it anyway.
