Butterpaw

Butterpaw is Yggy's First. Our king, champion, archbishop, and laundry folder. (We don't know why on that last one - he just really enjoys folding dragon laundry. We asked if we could do it once since he's king and all and he said "RAWR" which means no.)

He is fast and strong and his jaws bite hard a lot. He was the first one of us to learn how to puke ice at will, and we can't even HANDLE how majestic that is. You always want him on your side in a fight. He is just as slippery and adaptable as the first half of his name implies, but not as catlike as the second half. We don't really know where that came from. Only the wind does. Butterpaw doesn't have any parents, see. As far as he remembers, he's just been in this weird lair forever. raised only by the whispering wind. And also seals. But he sees those more as playmates, and even more as snacks. You might say that Butterpaw has trouble with foundational authority, since he's never had anyone really tell him what to do. Of course, then you'd suddenly be missing an arm, which would be sad.

Butterpaw tells the best jokes of anyone in the clan. We know this because you have to laugh at them lots, or else you get dead. Butterpaw is very good and quick at killing you and threatening to kill you for reasons that you might not have realized were good reasons to die but really make a lot of sense when you think about them and also about his teeth. He is always saying to people, clan members and enemies included, that he'll "kill you in a second." Like, appropos of nothing. He doesn't say when or why or how or anything. "I'll kill you in a second." It's like his catchphrase. He's so awesome.

Butterpaw is also an amazing problem solver. One time we had this big debate over who got to eat this bunny, and it was getting very obtuse and philosophical so to clear the air we brought the issue up with Butterpaw. He took one look at us, and then at the bunny, and then he said "RAWR" which means "I have a solution." Then he ate the bunny.

Butterpaw and Trinket are "mates for life," which is a special clan term meaning "If you look at her for too long Butterpaw will make you dead." Trinket usually doesn't let him get away with that stuff though. She is pretty much the only one he will listen to, except for the wind, which is sort of different.

Butterpaw is so sociable and outgoing. Right now, Butterpaw is making best friends with this Emerald Webwing who the wind has named "Dinner in a Week [meaning contested]". Butterpaw says that you are supposed to make friends this way, by killing your new friend's old friends, knocking them out, then dragging their bodies back to your lair, after which you make them hang out with you for a few minutes a day and never let them leave until they stop giving you enough money for the arrangement to be worth it. Butterpaw says that everyone in the world does it like this, and it's fine. You can also buy friends, but he says that takes the fun out of it. Dinner In a Week could not be reached for a comment at this time, because he is playing inside of Butterpaw's mouth.

Butterpaw is very ambitious and brave. Butterpaw's big goals for our clan are (A) to figure out why we're just in the Frigid Floes and not one of the cool sounding other places and (B) to make us all extremely strong so everyone knows ice is the best. He is training us and feeding us and sometimes being very sneaky, but it is all for a good, good thing to happen. He says "RAWR" which means that "Our tree will grow. The ice freezes us not. The snow dampens not our spirits. We are the yeomen, and we will usher in the New Times. Beware."
