Paladin to the Lightweaver

Opraisa was once a proud paladin of the Lightweaver, belonging to an order located just outside the Hewn City. The order was tasked with keeping the clans of the area safe from any shade attacks coming from the City, and making supply deliveries to those clans foolish enough to defend their position within the ruins themselves. The order was a defining presence of the area, nearly five hundred members strong, and had won the wholehearted respect and deference of the clans under their protection. Needless to say, the entire region was devastated when the order was felled by an unknown attack, and those clan territories have since been claimed by the creeping gloom of the Hewn City.

Opraisa woke from the still smoking wreckage of her home with no recollection of who she was or what purpose she had spent her entire life until this point serving. Along with the only other surviving member of the order, a young mirror named Ression, she fled the Hewn City and attempted to rebuild her life from the scraps of memory she retained. Ression would say nothing on the circumstances they awoke to, claiming he had lost his memories of that place as well, but she knew he retained far more than he let on. For a long time she didn't press the issue, as she was content with the life the two had built together and the work her apparent connection with the Lightweaver allowed her to do. Whatever she and Ression were part of before, his reaction to it lent her to believe it was a past she should be glad to have escaped.

Eventually, however, Opraisa's memories began to trickle back and left her with more questions than her curiosity could reasonably let go. Ression caved and told her about the life they had led before the attack, of the friends and purpose they had lost and the corruption within the order that he felt had more to do with its fall than the shade attack the surrounding reports had blamed it on. With this information in the open, the two set out to discover what had truly happened to the order, traveling across the Sunbeam Ruins as a mercenary duo in the hopes this work could lead them deeper into the circles of those connected to the incident.

It was slow going, but after a few years their party, now made a trio with the addition of an equally battered and scarred imperial by the name of Suurikien, ran into the most promising opportunity they had yet been presented with. A boisterous young wildclaw by the name of Asteri had offered them a job escorting a small team of researchers to an outpost within the Hewn city, very near to where their order disappeared. Apparently this mission was being funded by an organization whose name had appeared in several places on their search, but whom Opraisa and her companions could never obtain any proper information about. With interest, the trio took the job.

The days are slow at SABRI's research outpost and Opraisa's investigation is slower, but this group of scientists and scholars hides the most potential information about her order's fall out of any other job she's taken, especially that representative Siore. So far her inquiries have been met with confusion or blatant refusal, but she is willing to play the hired muscle as long as she needs to. With the direction this research operation seems to be heading, someone will have to crack soon. She will find out what they know, no matter how long she has to wait. In the meantime, she considers herself in pleasant enough company.
