• his sister's the golden child of the windsinger, the leader of a mighty war clan and him?? just a little b—
• humboldt's an accident. a windlord's wife got a little too involved with a showdragon while they were enjoying the trickmurk circus and ended up pregnant
• okay so, i'm thinking the shadowbinder loves her children, she's protective of them and she takes a defensive role in dominance wars, twisting and warping the shadows of the woods to confuse/disorientate plague in the west and light in the east when they fight for her land

• his mother dons robes and sneaks away in the night, joining the gathering with the intent to hide her mistake.
• he's fully submerged for brief time before her regret gets the better of her and she plunges her claws into the pool, wrenching him from the shadowbinder's grasp.

• after that whole business with exploding and burning the woods, humboldt decides to retreat from the public eye and take care of the city and its residents from the shadows. his magic, no longer straining against the bonds of wards meant to repress it, to quiet it, flows freely from his clawtips like water

• life goes on, the city grows bigger and bigger, more and more dragons make their homes within the gnarled pine houses that he grows to fit their needs and he all but

• he no longer has bones, or organs, but if he still had a heart it would’ve stopped dead in its tracks the first time he runs into an shrine for him in someone’s yard

Candle's Notes: It's almost impossible to hunt Humboldt down, you'd have better luck trying to catch the wind. The streets of the city bend to his will, and he can shroud himself in the mists on a whim, so the only way that I can make him talk to me is to book an appointment at city hall and turn it into a counseling session.
