Biography

L I L A C

A dragon created from starstuff, Lilac has left her home lair (Foxil, 431112) in search of a place to study the heavens. If you ever feel the urge to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could just return her home instead, or to the 'Dragons Off to See the World' thread, here. If you don't want another traveler in return, you can also drop her off at the Traveling Dragon Rest Hub!

It's clear to me that this "home lair" is nothing of the sort. I've been shown into the parlor, but it's clearly just a holding area. It's crowded, and some of the dragons I talked to said they've been here for months. That's unacceptable. I'm leaving.

It was quiet, but the closely-growing trees blocked out the stars. I couldn't see even one. Veilspun may be the Shadowbinder's children, but I felt alone. I found a clan to shelter in, and it was perfect... a little too perfect. It was strange.

Dresden, a fellow stargazer, understood my troubles. He told me how to leave this place, and so I trekked out...

Being in the heart of Fire territory has given me a glimpse into the intensity that must burn within stars - the heat radiating from the lava floes must be akin to that of a star. But the products of Sornieth's core cannot compare to the behemoths of the universe.

The sky is shaded in smoke and ash here. I need to find a clearer view.

Apparently what they say about the darkest shadows being cast by the strongest light is true. Days in the Sunbeam Ruins are incredibly bright, but nights are intensely dark.

The residents of the Sunbeam Lanternhouse had no objection to my using their Meadow at night, and at last: a clear view. After all of my trials, it brought me a sense of serenity to stargaze in peace.

I was joined by a fellow fallen star, Orion. Unfortunately, he seemed agitated. I did my best to listen his troubles, as Dresden had done for me, and maybe it helped. I am not entirely sure.

One would think that stargazing at the Oculus of the Eleven would be simple. But like most Arcane activities it subverts your expectations. The ley lines and sanctums light the sky on some nights and twist the view with different colors and patterns. Both the stars and magical patterns elude a direct gaze. It’s fascinating. Some say that the colors and patterns one sees are an omen of things to come. I’m not sure how accurate that might be. How can one glean meaning from a sight that can’t be described?

Orion and I continued on our way, finding a beautiful clearing in the forest. We both agreed it would be wonderful for stargazing, and encountered the friendly Caretaker of the garden, which we found out was called the Fount of Travelers. The Caretaker, Axolotl, welcomed us and bid us to freely use the space to stargaze as much as we wished.

During our time there, we encountered a dragon that informed us they were made of snow. How interesting. I hope I was able to encourage them, I told the poor thing that we were fallen stars, which seemed to bring some relief. How many dragons come from other things? An intriguing thought.
