A dragon of high social standing, Dresden only keeps company with sophisticated dragons like himself. He holds the fine arts in high esteem, and enjoys having philosophical conversations with fellow scholars, quibbling over lofty concepts which none of them truly understand. All of his correspondence is done by letter, even with dragons in his own clan, since Dresden considers the written word to be the superior form of communication. He addresses everyone as “sir” or “madam” and bows often (perhaps too often). Since he despises hatchlings (filthy scoundrels), his fellow clan members love to torment him by releasing a horde of youngsters into his path. They find his desperate attempts to flee the adorable offspring hilarious, and the hatchlings themselves quite enjoy the encounter, each competing to see who can smear his scales with the most mud. All jokes aside, deep down Dresden is kind-hearted, even if he appears a bit stiff on the outside. Many of his clan members cherish the letters he writes them, appreciating the fact that he took the time to express his feelings through pen and paper, even if he doesn’t do so in person.
