Biography
Coriander | he/they
Description
Coriander, affectionately nicknamed "Worrywart", is the librarian of the clan. Possessing weak light magic, he can create small illusions and he uses these illusions in the library, letting every dragon read in a place they're comfortable in. He does not have a wish to have hatchlings of his own: taking care of the clan's library is enough for him and many say that any scroll or book will become Coriander's child once they fall under his care. "No, no, not like that! I- I can't screw up again!" is sometimes heard coming from Coriander's hut, and it always leads every dragon into a worried frenzy. Coriander may be one of the shyest dragons in the clan, but he is still one of the most beloved.
C-C-C-C'MON, C-C-C-C'MON, GO GO!
He was born quiet.
His parents thought there was something wrong with him.
Their childhood consisted of pitiful glances and hushed whispers, sly glances when they thought he couldn't see (he could see, he could always see how they had shied away from him like he was something abnormal).
His magic was weak, and a wave of a dragon's claw could dispell any illusions he had made. He stumbled over his words, struggling to talk to dragons and overthinking every situation and twitched like a squirrel, like prey that his clan was eating every day. None of the other dragons in the clan were like this, they were confident, they made illusions that affected dragons' emotions and made them feel safe, comforted, they were strong and normal.

None of the other dragons in the clan were like this, they were confident, they made illusions that affected dragons' emotions and made them feel safe, comforted, they were strong and normal.
It wasn't until a mage named Berwin visited their village and cast his protective magic over them, promising sweet memories and safe lives and a choice to come with him and join his clan, that Coriander felt he could be free. Berwin had looked, really looked at them and he didn't treat him like an anomaly, or even different from the other dragons. He just treated him as if he was normal, as if he was a dragon instead of the stuttering monster others saw him as.
They made their decision then, to follow Berwin wherever he went. Berwin took him under his wings and taught him how to properly use his illusion magic; something that no dragon had ever bothered to do. With a sweep of his claw, he could conjure hazy, contained areas of pure imagination. Because while his clan specialized in emotion, they had never entertained the possibility of using their minds and building palaces beyond dragon comprehension. But now, Coriander could do that, and so much more.
Berwin's two other friends, Stella and Riverrush, were so- so kind to him. Riverrush sometimes struggled to hold in nervous twitching, and all three of them all had their own problems. To them, they were just a dragon who struggled with his self worth, a dragon who couldn't speak sometimes, a dragon who overthought about many things. He was a dragon, to them.
And then came the Pearlcatcher mages and Coriander felt so free because they told him he was normal, that he just had anxiety and it could be managed with potions. The potions didn't stop everything, he still had bad days, but Coriander felt so much better and in control of his life - he wasn't a monster anymore. He had anxiety, but he lived with it and he wasn't blamed for it anymore.
If he had panic attacks or felt too overwhelmed by his thoughts, he had his clan now.
They were one of the smartest dragons in the clan, and the most fit to be their librarian - he was often reminded of that fact.
And Coriander had never been happier ever since.
