Passionate, stubborn, and overly romantic by turns, Volcano greatly resembles his namesake, prone to sudden eruptions and fiery bursts of emotion. In this way, he conceived an immediate affection for the young dragon Anemone, which scandalized the entire SeaRuffle clan because of her youth. They decided that the Tidelord must approve when Volcano's once-crackle patterning changed in reflection of Anemone's own genes. Despite this seeming endorsement, however, Leilei determined that Volcano had to give Anemone space for her own growth. Thus she became a messenger, meeting and exploring other clans as she matured, and Volcano himself developed an interest in storytelling, that he might share his own stories as Anemone shared hers.

His suit eventually successful, Volcano has settled in to become one of the clan's best fathers and parents, particularly as his mate's responsibilities as clan messenger continue to lead her away from the clan grounds. His passion now focuses largely on his offspring; he is assiduous about attending the nest, always checking on the eggs to make sure that they are surrounded and caressed by the warmest currents. After the eggs hatch, Volcano tends painstakingly to the needs of the tiny hatchlings--whether they are his own or anothers'. Consequently, he has become the clan's primary caretaker of the clan's hatchlings. He can often be seen with hatchlings piled up between his forelegs or curled along his flanks, and Bermuda frequently hovers nearby as he looks forward to telling hatchlings hunting stories. He and Volcano have become increasingly good friends in the development of their shared interest in the welfare and future of the clan's hatchlings.
