Maven was born with the Warden’s eyes. She’s been told countless times
that it’s a great blessing, though it feels to her like a curse. While some with
god-eyes have beautiful magic or a deep connection to their deity, Maven has
blinded eyes and a constant chill. While powerful, her magic is uncontrollable,
violent, and sometimes debilitating. She’s sworn off using it and will lie through
her teeth to keep it that way. While putting some distance between herself and
her homeland, she discovered an affinity for language. She now speaks over ten
dialects and works a comfortable job as a translator at the Daylight Sanctum.

Despite getting along with her colleagues well enough, her social life is a little
lacking. Maven’s not one for small talk, or friends really for that matter, so it
was rather unexpected when she made acquaintances with the other resident
wallflower, Jayant. Their relationship amazes and confuses the other Sanctum
occupants. Her fiery spirit and his quiet reservation make them a bit of an
odd couple, but they’ve formed quite a bond. To date, Jayant is the only one to
see her magical outbursts, and Maven has come to rely on his steady presence.
She’s come to find that she has more feelings for him than she’d admit out loud.
