H I S T O R Y Right. Two things. One: I already told Mạc Hàn that this document will not be published, despite how much she begged and cried. Peculiarly enough, her begging and crying completely contradicted what was written in this pamphlet in terms of tone, and I refuse to believe that Shroudsea is that desperate for collaborators. I shall be keeping this for further research. With that in mind, I am equally perplexed as to why Mạc Hàn is underselling her abilities. She says it takes her a lot of time to fully reanimate a corpse, but as far as I know, she has successfully vivified at least two with, dare I say, moderate success – or at least, not as much a failure as it should have been. For his earlier work, he created a mindless monster that has escaped from the Agarwood Mountain and is now wandering from one desolate battlefield to the next, all under the guise of pity and compassion towards his “beloved” sư tỷ. For his latter, the subject managed to retain part of her mind – a constantly corroding part, that is – and is now comfortably confined in her resurrector's portable coffin. Mạc Hàn swore up and down in front of any Celestian member she could find that she truly regretted having carried out both of these endeavours when her techniques were unperfected. Which I doubt. Mạc Hàn's past is uncharacteristically clear. Child born from a farming family, her parents had no means to raise her properly. So of course Lord Aquamarine had to scout her. Tale as old as time. Now that I can take another look at the various letters Mạc Hàn sent me. The constant insisting that he did not 'lobotomize' Mộ Linh. The incessant reassuring that he did not worsen her condition after she awoke. Everything was intact, which, unfortunately, included the massive hole in her skull - he said. I have witnessed first-hand how this 'inconvenience' left detrimental and annoying consequences to the dead woman's social life, but from what I can see, the two of them get along with each other just fine. I sincerely doubt Mạc Hàn's claim that Mộ Linh's short temper and tendency to hurl insults towards him greatly annoys him and he wants more than anyone else to get her off his back. Seriously, is she even capable of having a temper? I also do not buy his claim that he does not get along well with other Shroudsea Palace disciples, considering his... almost cult-like adoration towards Thụy Du. I do not wish to indict everyone Thụy Du is on good terms with, but this is certainly something to think about. |
