One would think that a coatl, one of the children of Flamecaller, would be ill-suited to be the high priest of a Water clan. But it was by Tidelord’s will that the previous leader, TideHeart, stepped down from the role and have the older coatl take his place. With the blessing of wisdom, he passionately and tenaciously seeks knowledge for the betterment for all of the Flight and clan. From burning the midnight oil in SquidInk’s library to having afternoon tea with the seers and breaking fast with warriors going to Coliseum, he collects information about past, present and future from every aspect of life. In turn for this information, he listens to the needs of the Flight and clan, and giving both assistance and advice whether it be for spiritual, magical or physical needs. Even the clan leader, SeaQueen, often seeks his advice as to how to better the clan and to see the things that she cannot, even things of her own heart.

Though TideLagoon is knowledgeable, he is not all-knowing nor all-powerful. He can only give advice based on the information he knows and he does so with the hope that the receiver will use it wisely. But sometimes the future cannot be changed and tides run red with sorrow. He fears and knows that wisdom is never enough against the darkness that resides in every dragon’s heart. When he was young he realized the darkness within his own heart and in desperation used a magical spell to try and move it to a mirror. It worked but not as he expected. The mirror became alive, filled with hatred, despair, anger, and all the things he had sought to remove from his heart. As the thing in the mirror laughed at his fear, he lunged to destroy it and was halted by lady TidePool. To destroy the mirror would be to destroy a piece of himself, a piece of his soul. He wept in realization of what he might have done.

And thus he carries the mirror in his necklace. No other creature can hear its voice but him, and it whispers his darkest thoughts, desires and fears. He usually can mentally challenge those thoughts one by one till it quiets, and over time the mirror has weakened. However, there are still days in which it wears him down and challenges his patience to which he only has one cure, the love of his family, friends and the love within his own heart- and the wisdom that it too shall pass.

Upon his twentieth year as high priest for the clan, Tidelord gave TideLagoon a blessing in honor of his achievements. The necklace soaked into his body, restoring to him the darkness he had once sought to destroy. He was once again balanced, both light and dark in one soul for he had the wisdom to understand the necessity of both in this world. The blessing had the aftereffect of making his body more water than solid, which has proven both amusing and frustrating for TideLagoon... it is rather difficult to wear clothes when one soaks through them instantly.

"Look into yourself and realize you are a mix of many things the good, the bad and the ugly. Accept that there are things you cannot change and act on the things you can change. Forgive your shortcomings and realize that negative feelings are not always harmful and can also be healing. And finally find the strength to love yourself. "
