Named after the element carbon on the Periodic Table of Elements. The 6th element on the periodic table, Carbon was discovered in 3750BC by the ancient Egyptians and Sumerians. Carbon can not only form gemstones such as Diamond and Graphite, but certain isotopes can also be used to determine the age of an object through Carbon-dating.
