Swamptongue, for the most part, is your standard Mirror. He ran with a large pack of Mirrors in the Abiding Boneyard until he met Ashbringer. At the time, Ash's clan only consisted of herself and her childhood friends, Tigerqueen and Wraithshade, but something about Ash drew him to her. He had to learn how to communicate with non-mirrors to get used to her unique way of acting. It was a hard adjustment at first, but his growing love for Ashbringer made it worth it.
Even after the clan grew, Swampy continued to be far from social and only ever talked to Ash and Wraith. Rather than remain an outcast, he channeled his Mirror desires to hunt and instead formed the Clan Protectors, a group of powerful hunters who run together in order to guard the clan.
This new group allowed for Swamptongue to flourish as both a leader and an individual and now he is happy to interact with his friends in his own unique way.
