History - "The nice thing about being fairly dragonized," Castiel likes to say, "is that it gives me a fair bit of distance. No angels swooping in to attack me, no inadvertent power use, none of that nonsense. I get to live a peaceful life and I can occasionally do the weird stuff if I want to. No muss, no fuss." Where others might get angsty about not being purely angelic, Castiel is quite the opposite. He likes his calm and simple blue-collar life acting as the supplemental water treatment plant for Clan AXQU. Castiel laughs when anyone tries to tell him that such a job is beneath someone of his illustrious pedigree. "Why?" he asks. "Number one, I'm dragonized; much less responsibility to the Powers That Be. Number two, why should I only be focused on great works? Who has that kinda time to plan theatrics?" Personally, though, once you get to know him, Castiel is an utterly strange soul. This makes sense for someone whose gaze is always halfway into the spiritual realm, but new friends of his always catch a fright when he walks nonchalantly across a pool of water, or quite literally shoos a shade-touched artifact away. Castiel spaces out fairly often, but this seems to happen most often when someone asks him about his angelic nature. Or he makes up ridiculous lies-- his favorite is "Angels aren't real, and all of us are named Erica." When it's pointed out to him that lying is a sin, Castiel just winks and sticks out his tongue. Day to day, it's easy to forget what Castiel is, and for his part, he likes it that way. For the most part, he's a laid-back guy, and seems to embrace silliness with an enthusiasm uncommon to adult dragons. This is because of the rigid structure often expected of angels-- in a lot of ways, fun is a brand-new concept to his family, and Castiel seems determined to explore it as thoroughly as he can. This doesn't mean he's naive. He's more aware of the darkness in the world than most. Rather, Castiel has decided to embrace the best parts of living a mortal life in a mortal world. Big works are nice, big gestures are good, but Castiel mostly cares about the small day to day miracles that add up to a better world. That fun and sillines exist, despite adversity, is one of those tiny miracles. |
Triviaxxxxxxxxx His favorite food is chicken fried steak. If you can make it into a sandwich with bacon and cheese, KFC Double Down- style, he'll be even happier. Castiel has favorite names for all different kinds of animals. His favorite name for snakes is "Wiggles," and his favorite name for frogs is "Slimey." Somewhat relatedly, Castiel has never been accused of being a creative soul. He is actually uncommonly creative for an angel; his kind wasn't even supposed to have free will, let alone use it to make things. Making has always been the province of the Powers That Be. When asked about the Powers That Be, Castiel's response is always a long wet raspberry noise. If one insists he answer, his response is a series of increasingly wet and aggressive raspberry noises until one backs down. One would think this would be silly, and it certainly starts silly, but it becomes increasingly clear that such questions cause him genuine distress and fear. Castiel appears to be using the silliness to cope with something.
