"This palace is sacred territory, Apollyon. You're not permitted to enter. If you work diligently guarding your tower, you will be given permission to stand with us."

Those words were all Apollyon needed to hear. It turns away from the two guarding the large gate, running back to its tower and flying along the obsidian walls before settling on the perch.

The creature can see the entirety of Hell from its tower, and it always wondered what lays beyond all the brimstone and fire. Are there actually other civilizations? Can they all withstand this type of heat?

It sits there, pondering the possibility of other life. It's seen outsiders before, but they either choose to live amongst the Chosen, or disappear entirely. It ponders for a while, before a thought comes to its mind.

How did I come to this place? Was I an outsider like the others, or have I always lived here?

Apollyon, determined to find answers, guards its tower diligently, using its crystallized armor to fend off anyone that gives off an impression of trespass or threats. It does this for days, weeks, months...

Until one day, when a dragon shrouded in flames approaches. The flames dissipate, revealing a banescale beneath them.


The banescale dips his head, speaking clearly, "You guard this tower like a true follower. You've been noticed by the Flamecaller herself, and admired by the Chosen. Your efforts have not been in vain."

Apollyon watches with curiosity as flames appear from beneath it. The flames don't hurt, and it isn't fearful as the fire spirals around it, the flames encasing it from head to toe.
